Kings/Queens were basically installed as representatives of a larger group called an oligarchy who wished to remain otherwise anonymous to enjoy their wealth. Barons, nobles, lords, whatever they were land owners that gave credence to the monarchy. The monarchy could not exist without the land owners.

Now, no one really owns land it is always taxed, the structure above ground is owned but that depreciates in value, the land beneath the structure is property of the state.

The greatest transfer of wealth from the hands of the middle class to the upper classes has happened since we left the gold standard. We left the gold standard since politicians and banks wanted a flexible currency that didn't have a limited quantity. Who creates the currency if not the state corporate partnership? This inflation steals wealth from the lower and middle class and siphons it off to the upper classes, the new nobility, the new oligarchy, the New World Order if you will.
