Anonymous Coward User ID: 1108838 Canada 09/24/2010 12:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Being a stone mason I have worked with lots of limestone and it is subject to breaking at times. While it is strong it can also be extremely weak and has holes and fissures. The article states that 2 km disappeared (in the middle or so)from this river, so it didn't dry up and the whole river isn't gone. Water seeks the lowest point and will go through very small places. This could be tectonic movement which caused a crack to open up enough to allow this or just erosion which finally broke through. Maybe OP, could you find the map coordinates and the location of the missing section like an aerial shot and this would show quite a bit. |

Or some morning the water thereof will be lost in the earth so that thou canst not make search for it. God is talking of a river between the two gardens of men. Read the story. God has the power to make rivers disappear over night. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 754727 Canada 09/24/2010 12:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So 2km of a river disappears overnight, and the offical story is that it drained away through that small crack?! (See pictures in link in above post). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1108510Bearing in mind that witnesses heard a huge bang, which one said sounded like a huge detonation. Is it that this phenomena was caused by some new technology to control flooding? Or perhaps it was an earthquake without the tremor? What is particularly concerning is that this sort of event can be common before big earthquakes. In china a whole lake disappeared before a devastating earthquake. this happened once in niagra.. people heard a big bang, the next mornin... the niagra falls was gone....... pepople walked across the rocks to america |

I am really puzzled by that. It seems impossible that it could have become bone dry that quickly, plus hardly any small pools in low areas. I think there are still some aspects of this that are a mystery. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 914473 United States 09/24/2010 01:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On Tuesday night 2km of the river Iska in Slovenia disappeared and left behind fish on dry ground. The residents are saying that they heard a huge bang in the night. It sounds like they are describing it as a possible earthquake-like sound although there was no tremor. One woman said that it was like a huge detonation, as if something big had crashed onto the ground. People went out of their homes to see what was falling down, only to witness the river being drained. Quoting: M... 1108571To make this story even more strange, last week there were devastating floods in Slovenia and this river like all others was flooding land and properties. Could it be that some strange technology is being tested here for flood defence purpose? The official explanation is that due to the karst nature of the terrain the river went underground through this tiny hole (see pictures in link below), but the residents are highly sceptical as they have never witnessed anything like that ever (bearing in mind this river has flooded many times before). For pictures (language is Slovenian): 24ur.com... The first part of the official news story (from link above) translates as: "On Tuesday night the river Iska vanished between the villages of Iska Vas and Strahomer."... (Now here comes the official explanation)... "Slovene Environment Agency statement says that the water is flowing into the underground chamber underneath the water bed. This is the way the river disappears and reappers later down stream. This time this characteristic of the river is stronger because of the damages to the river bed." Yes, true, also because of floods. There is greatest wetlands habitat in Slovenia. There was found the oldest human made whistle/flute in the world. There was the original reservation of the White race. 200.000 years ago. There is the main Church of St. Michael Arch-Angel in Slovenia. Signs of Time & Space. X |

I think the EQs may be connected with this event, especially considering that tremor that occurred on night of 21/9/10: [link to www.arso.gov.si] There was a thread a few days ago about people there waiting for doom. Two people dreaming of big quakes. I can't find it now. Quoting: Babsi 1108001This was another one that had been going a few days prior, which was why I had noticed the other one. Thread: ---EQ Swarm In Slovenia!!??/Now That's Odd!!!--- Smart connecting of the dots - I saw the thread too but I didn't put 2+2 together. This could have something to do with it of course. Sinkholes...now draining lakes same time as EQ's happen there...hmmmmm. Interesting, I'm no scientist, but that must have something to do with it. |
