Transhuman Scientists download brain onto computer making humans immortal
Ian Pearson is a British futurist, cybernetic expert and artificial intelligence researcher.

Some experts say downloading all recorded memories from a brain will be happening before 2020.

If this is being talked about in Public Field it's probably already active underground, don't you think? Because the Mil. is usually at least 40 years ahead of the curve.

Has anyone seen Caprica or Battlestar Galactica?

Caprica is the beginning of the Cylons. They are created the exact same way, by downloading all the memories of an individual into a computer that then turns the memories into an Avatar. This creates a spark of life and turns the Cylons into living beings.

The Digital Immortality Institue (DII) is researching this now.

Anders Sandberg a member of the new transhuman movement (Beyond Human), believes uploading minds and downloading them into new bodies is imminent.

So Cloned bodies with Artificial Intelligence = New Human / Super Human.

This is some incredible technology really. Think about it, cloned bodies with immunities to almost everything, no defects, then downloaded memories combined with new memories / software. The new brain would have a direct connection to the BORG via Wifi.

Another Transhumanist, Al Yudkowky is convinced this technology must be developed befofre a group or gov. with evil intentions does it first.

Do you guys think this is a good idea?

Ah, hate to break it to you but humans are eternal, which is much better than being immortal.
These guys are just tinkering with sematics, they have no clue how consciousness truly works.

Humans are eternal? Last i checked the average life expectancy is about 70 or so years isn't it? The soul is eternal but not the hu-man.

i think its a fantastic idea if it doesn't get into the wrong hands.
Oh wait, it's probably to late for that.

 Quoting: 2342

The whole concept of downloading a person's brain into a computer as a means of prolonging life.

The idea is just shit.

Life is much more than simply the sum totality of a person's thoughts and memories.

I always wonder if this just means the human brain has been backed up and when the physical brain dies, you are still dead.

i understand where your coming from. And i still think its a great idea. Does this mean that your soul will transfer with your memories, probably not.
Could your soul re-attach itself to the new body, i think yes.
Thanks for your explanation sounds better than a BS flag.

The physical portal is dead, so you get a new one with the same memories and upgraded software. DNA is basically biological code.

Ok, the brain is a biological hard drive. Your spirit is consciousness. If your hard drive is messed up, it will effect the rest of the computer right.

Re: Transhuman Scientists download brain onto computer making humans immortal
Old news. The Mayans did this long long ago.

The shaman takes his or hers consciousness, right before they die, and place it into an object, like a crystal skull or any object for that matter. They used skulls so people would recognise that a shaman was in there, and not to destroy the skull.

And the shamans conciousness thats transferred into the crystal skull or object, can be retrieved and placed back into a human.

Quote from website...

Is an upload still a person?

Even if we assume that an upload is alive, it may be argued that it's not really a person -- because it was created by humans, or because it doesn't consist of biological tissue. Since special rights are often attributed to persons, this in an important question.
The general consensus on the net seems to be that uploads are just as human (i.e., "persons") as biological humans. Indeed, this seems so obvious to most people that the issue has received very little discussion. Still, from a philosophical standpoint it deserves more attention.

End of quote...

It would really deserve more attention!

Where is my soul or my spirit or my conscious ??

What's with emotions and feelings ???

I would not like to leave the sum of my personal experiences to play around on a computer...

I do not believe it would be me at all...

Memories only shape who we are. They are like the hard drive in your computer. You can take the drive out and put it in another computer and that computer will have the information of the former computer, but it isn't the same computer.

i would conclude that the mind can become immortal, however, humans cannnot be immortal. Once your mind becomes immortal in this fashion, you are no longer human.

Yes memories do help shape who we are. And your analogy makes a good point. Similar to cloning a human, almost the same, not exactly the same.
