Sandi_T User ID: 873093 United States 12/05/2010 09:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Computers get hacked all the time. This is nothing more or less than a computer. It's bad enough to have diseases and insanity. But imagine some hacker, seeing it as a game, getting control over your cyber-body and slaughtering your family right in front of your face while you scream in your own mind and body, unable to stop it. Or use your body to go assassinate someone, and then you're stuck in prison for a lifetime because you can't prove the hacking and you get 100 years in prison for your sentence. The possibilities of horror are pretty much endless... that's why so many horror stories are made around this idea! No more requests in the "Strangest things" thread please. :hf: Past Lives requests thread: Thread: That Which Once Was: Past Lives |

The hu-man is basically a biological computer too, that breaks down into electrical frequencies. Peoples brains can be hacked into and manipulated. This tech has been around for decades. The Mind get hacked all the time by certain frequencies. i look at life with the Duality perspective. Every action has an equal re-action. Everything has an opposite, in this reality/matrix. My point is, it all depends on who uses the technology. For example lets say the earth becomes extremely inhabitable to humans. Famine, Weather Patters, Radiation, rampant disease, etc... If you had a Body created to protect you from the ailments, a body that required 1/10th the food consumption and actually thrives off radiation/ immune to viruses and nasty bacteria. Your memories with other vital DATA is then implanted into that body, you would have a much better chance of survival. Not to mention you would feel better, live as long as you choose and experience more. Then again, if the Evil Cabal decided to hack into your biological hard drive and program you to do something against your will, that falls into the negative spectrum right? www.youtube.com/clandestinetimelord |

Sandi_T User ID: 873093 United States 12/05/2010 10:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, to be honest with you, I'm not afraid of death. I AM afraid of experiencing the horror of watching as someone hijacked my metal body and went on a killing spree. So ultimately, "immortality" offers little that I want-- and a lot that I don't. Like I said, being the "biological computer" that I am already comes with enough risks... at least they are familiar risks that I feel comfortable with. The idea of immortality is actually one of my biggest FEARS, not hopes. I suppose if one were terrified of death, this would seem like heaven to them. But if one is not afraid of death at all, it just seems like a lot of risk for little to no real reward... I can already access the internet, I can already do most things I want to do. I don't want to be a superhuman, I just want to live a simple, happy life. I want to feel my daughter's cheek, in a real way. I want to cuddle her and I want to enjoy life as it comes. I don't want my body to go berserk one day and me not be able to feel her and crush her because my sensors malfunctioned. I don't want to wake up one day with part of my body not working and a repair bill of millions of dollars because that particular servo-mechanism went out of style 200 years ago. It's bad enough to have medical bills. Repair bills on an ailing mechanical body, or the worry of how to "upgrade" to the latest model... All of that sounds kind of terrible to me, honestly. I'd rather die. And I'm not saying that in a "OMG, THE HORROR" kind of way. It's like saying that I'd rather drive to my vacation than go through TSA's brutalities. Just not worth it to me. No interest at all in immortality. No more requests in the "Strangest things" thread please. :hf: Past Lives requests thread: Thread: That Which Once Was: Past Lives |

The difference is that the hacking of our minds/ brains is a lot less efficient, more easily overcome, and far more complicated... not to mention that it's generally a tremendous degree less complete. When computers get hacked, they often have to be either completely reprogrammed, or utterly destroyed. So far, they've not gotten that far with our brains... Quoting: Accidental Stoner 1073216Flattered you should ask :) Not sure this will ever really touch the lives of us folks in the working/underclass on the personal level... i think its a great idea if it gets into the right hands. Or it could be a complete disaster for people because then they would be under even more totalitarian control. www.youtube.com/clandestinetimelord |

Once your mind becomes immortal in this fashion, you are no longer human. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 967932Good point, it would never be the same person. Plus sense of humor, emotions would not really exist, seems like really it would suck. |
