Anonymous Coward User ID: 1194539 United States 12/14/2010 02:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was just going to make the above comment, only way, way, more detailed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1194539How can you tell people to stop watching horror movies and be a PAID member of this site. Do you realize how many disgusting, upsetting, blasphemous, sociopathic, vulgar, depressing, vile threads are displayed on this site every single day???? I try to go through the threads as fast as I can so I don't read anything that offends God. And there is ALWAYS something that is offensive to God on this site, and offensive to anyone of normal human sensibilities. I like to read what's happening first hand in the world, but that is almost never the subject matter. Guess I need to take my own advice. Bye. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1182578 United States 12/14/2010 02:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Saw is torture porn. Nobody needs stuff that graphic. Give me a good old fashion suspense/horror film and I'm quite satisfied. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 815535If you think thats bad then never watch the trailer to Human Centipede- it will give you nightmares for weeks. That film was filled with stereotypes. The Mengele-like doctor, the Japanese man who commits hari-kari, and the American bimbettes. Was the concept disturbing? Yes but really was not as graphic as it could have been. It was rather slow in places. Would have been better if they cut it to an hour. I absolutely hate torture-porn movies like Saw, Hostel. Prefer good creepy movies like The Haunting or The Black Cat with Karloff. Still I was drawn to check it out. The director is making a sequel which will be far more graphic. I'm going to skip that. |

The whole culture business and culture ministries of all countries are paid to keep you stupid and afraid. Waste your mind on crap in the guise of entertainment. Just sit down, shut up and eat your popcorn while the state implants ideas. The last horror I saw was 20 years ago. Will never waste my time like that. Everything you see, read and hear has an effect on you. Nothing is ever done for your entertainment. Just pushes you to accept more disturbing ideas to rot your spirit of it's true nature! |
awthrawthr User ID: 1194130 United States 12/14/2010 03:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just like some uplifting music can lift you and inspire you, horror movies can do the opposite. Many women probably like horror movies because they increase tension. Increasing tension also happens to be a turn on to women. That's why women get attracted to guys who are no good. The bad boy increases their tension, which is mistaken for attraction. Nice guys, who by definition don't increase tension, are usually found to be boring to women. Anyway, I''m just trying to give you some insight why horror movies might be enticing to you. Once you know that, then you can observe it, and then move into more constructive ways to experience healthy tension while avoiding bad movies and bad guys. In addition, we store images in our brain as electro-magnetic fields. Note that the second half of that word is magnetic. That magnetism is what attracts trouble to ourselves if we are holding onto images of horror. Got pain? Free relief. [link to lowerpain.org] |

Frigg Stuyvesant User ID: 1108799 United States 12/15/2010 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | She's probably right. Quoting: goddess isisShe has become so much more selective with movies. I am completely startled. What are the effects? I read on some forum that it affects our EM field? Making it weaker? Horror works at a limited level because it is inherently NOT believable..Maybe you two should think about the subliminal and other forms of persuasion and mind control that are rife in mainstream movies? Wouldn't suggestion and influence be that much easier when the subject matter was "believable" or even better "REALITY programming"?? I still like horror for its time tested escapism it provides. It is all fake and you know it from the start. What worries me is the filth like sex and the shitty or MTV or I could go on but you get my drift. Our country is being subverted...And I believe softened up for the kill. Our people are hopelessly unprepared for what looks for all intents and purposes to be WW3 and maybe worse. I have a quote I will dig up and it is only one of many of its kind. "WAR TO THE HILT BETWEEN COMMUNISM AND CAPITALISM IS INEVITABLE. TODAY, OF COURSE, WE ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO ATTACK. OUR TIME WILL COME IN 20 OR 30 YEARS. TO WIN, WE SHALL NEED THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE. THE BOURGEOISIE WILL HAVE TO BE PUT TO SLEEP. SO WE SHALL BEGIN BY LAUNCHING THE MOST SPECTACULAR PEACE MOVEMENT ON RECORD. THERE WILL BE ELECTRIFYING OVERTURES AND UNHEARD-OF CONCESSIONS.THE CAPITALISTIC COUNTRIES, STUPID AND DECADENT, WILL REJOICE TO COOPERATE IN THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION. THEY WILL LEAP AT ANOTHER CHANCE TO BE FRIENDS. AS SOON AS THEIR GUARD IS DOWN, WE WILL SMASH THEM WITH OUR CLENCHED FIST." - DIMITRY Z. MANUILSKY, SOVIET CHAIRMAN OF U.N. Frigg Stuyvesant User ID: 1108799 United States 12/15/2010 01:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I suggest everyone stop playing video games where they kill other characters. Now that is not good for the soul. I watch horror to escape from the horror of everyday life. Its cathartic to me. I like suspense and creativity. Today Horror novels are far more creative than the stuff on the screen. Best horror film directors today are people like Guillermo Del Toro, Allejandro Amenabar, and when he's got a good story, M. Night Shymalan. However, the best horror movies are from the 1970's and before. Before slasher films became king. The movies that Corman made during his Poe Cycle, the Universal Horror which in of itself was influenced by German Expressionism. The Uninvited with Ray Milland is a great horror film. Even Bob Hope's 2 horror-comedy flicks have genuinely creepy moments. Just stay away from the slasher pics. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1182578I would also recommend the books of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Bentley Little, Robert McCammon, Peter Straub,James Herbert and Dan Simmons. Take out religion and new age and everything else, just think from a pure psychological perspective. Watching killing and death and blood and torture and intense traumatic human emotions, even if you are not partaking in it yourself. Is this something that is helpful to the mind and heart? Is it something that makes you smarter or more clever and teaches you something? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1128125 United States 12/15/2010 02:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | She's right. I used to watched scary movies a lot until I was attacked in my sleep. It was back in 2005 and the night before, I had watched the exorcism of emily rose. I have seen the excorcist before as well, but I never got the feeling of uneasiness I felt after watching emily rose. Anyway, I was in my dorm room and my roomate had left. I was sleeping but then I felt hands wrapped around my throat, and I heard words I couldn't understand. I was in the stage of sleep where your mind is awake, but your body hasn't caught up yet. My roomate came back from class, and I was trying to scream but I couldn't get the words out. She left , and it (which I'm assuming was a entity or demon) was still choking me, and made my tongue swell. I prayed in my head and suddenly popped up out of bed. I was terrified. Naysayers of course say I was dreaming, but I was fully concious and aware I was under a spirtual attack. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1194509My bestfriends mother also watched that movie, and woke up with scratches on her body. This stuff is real, demons are real, and can be attached to movies, music, books etc. Just pray and stay aware. Sorry if I scared y{. I just wanted you to know your are making the right decision. I've never thought of this before, but what if, our vibrations are lowered when we watch these type of movies, and it allows a door from another dimension to be opened...who knows what we allow to come in to our existance...at times of fear, or anger, deceit...etc... Hmmm, that's a lot to think about. |
