Yes, this is an inconsistency. Either he is full of crap or he messed up his dates.

If you do a search, though, there is some weird coincidence of his so called underground tunnel where he was being held. There was a strange highway collapse about a week after he supposedly revealed that he had escaped.

The explanation for the collapse was that the ground soil had softened somehow but why wouldn't it have collapsed years ago?
