NASA Study Suggests Giant Space Clouds Iced Earth

Actually the study never even suggests that an interstellar space cloud could cause a magnetic pole reversal, only that one would be expected to occur sometime within the 500,000 year time frame it would take our solar system to cross through it.

Eons ago, giant clouds in space may have led to global extinctions, according to two recent technical papers supported by NASA’s Astrobiology Institute.
One paper outlines a rare scenario in which Earth iced over during snowball glaciations, after the solar system passed through dense space clouds. In a more likely scenario, less dense giant molecular clouds may have enabled charged particles to enter Earth’s atmosphere, leading to destruction of much of the planet‘s protective ozone layer. This resulted in global extinctions, according to the second paper. Both recently appeared in the Geophysical Research Letters.
“Computer models show dramatic climate change can be caused by interstellar dust accumulating in Earth’s atmosphere during the solar system‘s immersion into a dense space cloud,” said Alex Pavlov, principal author of the two papers. He is a scientist at the University of Colorado, Boulder. The resulting dust layer hovering over the Earth would absorb and scatter solar radiation, yet allow heat to escape from the planet into space, causing runaway ice buildup and snowball glaciations.
“There are indications from 600 to 800 million years ago that at least two of four glaciations were snowball glaciations. The big mystery revolves around how they are triggered,” Pavlov said. He concluded the snowball glaciations covered the entire Earth. His work is supported by the NASA Astrobiology Institute, which has offices at NASA Ames Research Center, located in California’s Silicon Valley.
Pavlov said this hypothesis has to be tested by geologists. They would look at Earth’s rocks to find layers that relate to the snowball glaciations to assess whether uranium 235 is present in higher amounts. It cannot be produced naturally on Earth or in the solar system, but it is constantly produced in space clouds by exploding stars called supernovae.
Sudden, small changes in the uranium 235/238-ratio in rock layers would be proof interstellar material is present that originated from supernovae. Collisions of the solar system with dense space clouds are rare, but according to Pavlov’s research, more frequent solar system collisions, with moderately dense space clouds, can be devastating. He outlined a complex series of events that would result in loss of much of Earth’s protective ozone layer, if the solar system collided with a moderately dense space cloud.
The research outlined a scenario that begins as Earth passes through a moderately dense space cloud that cannot compress the outer edge of the sun‘s heliosphere into a region within the Earth’s orbit. The heliosphere is the expanse that begins at the sun‘s surface and usually reaches far past the orbits of the planets. Because it remains beyond Earth’s orbit, the heliosphere continues to deflect dust particles away from the planet.
However, because of the large flow of hydrogen from space clouds into the sun’s heliosphere, the sun greatly increases its production of electrically charged cosmic rays from the hydrogen particles. This also increases the flow of cosmic rays towards Earth. Normally, Earth’s magnetic field and ozone layer protect life from cosmic rays and the sun’s dangerous ultraviolet radiation.
Moderately dense space clouds are huge, and the solar system could take as long as 500,000 years to cross one of them.

Once in such a cloud, the Earth would be expected to undergo at least one magnetic reversal. During a reversal, electrically charged cosmic rays can enter Earth’s atmosphere instead of being deflected by the planet’s magnetic field.

Cosmic rays can fly into the atmosphere and break up nitrogen molecules to form nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxide catalysts would set off the destruction of as much as 40 percent of the protective ozone in the planet’s upper atmosphere across the globe and destruction of about 80 percent of the ozone over the polar regions according to Pavlov.

I've been thinking about getting this book. I don't think a magnetic pole shift will be a doom scenario. I also don't think a significant shift is going to take place for a long, long time. We should worry more about a mini-ice age. Felix has a book on that too that I may get at the same time.

I've been feeling the force of divinity growing within me, but I haven't felt the earth change as of yet. I know that things are accelerating very rapidly now. By the end of this year I will either ascend or die.

My compass is reading an extra 22 degrees counterclockwise since yesterday.

No nearby metal or other interferences. The readings from yesterday and today are the same spot, same environment.

The moon's orbit is extremely similar to the suns path across the sky at the moment. I have the "Starry Night" astronomy software, and sure enough, the moon seems to be setting with the sun. I think that's why we had the full lunar eclipse on 12/21.

I know that both the Earth and the Sun undergo a regular shift in their magnetic poles. The Sun's cycle is 11 years and I believe the Earth's is around 26,000 years. Is it true that Earth's pole reversal is due and is going to occur at the same time (or near) to the Sun doing the same thing? When this happens would the Earth and the Sun not react in a similar manner to two identically charged magnets coming together and repel? It seems that our own North Pole tracking data shows that it is already beginning to migrate. When it completes it's reversal what consequences will there be for a civilisation, based on electrical devices? Is the closeness of the Sun not a major factor is global warming?
The Sun shifts it's magnetic field every 11 years, and it has already happened for this solar cycle. The Earth's magnetic field flip is much more erratic and has happened approximately 25 times in the last 5 million years. It's been about 740,000 years since the last flip, however, so we're long overdue. There is evidence that we may be heading towards a reversal (the dipole magnetic field is weakening and the higher order terms are increasing), but we can't predict when it would happen. Depending upon how quickly the field reversal happens, it could cause problems for things like electric power lines and oil pipelines, and if the field goes to near zero, it might cause a higher background radiation at the ground, but there is no evidence that previous reversals have had any major biological effect. The forces due to the interaction of the solar and terrestrial magnetic fields are only very small perturbations.

How do the magnetic poles reverse? Is it for the same reason that the Sun's poles reverse?

Both the Sun and the Earth are electromagnets, not permanent magnets (despite the Earth's core being made up of iron and nickel). So it is electric currents moving through the plasma of the Sun and the molten rock of the Earth's interior that generate the magnetic fields. These currents have instabilities that build up until the field reverses to relieve stress. The fact that the magnetic pole moves is tied in with the same instabilities, but the flip probably happens pretty quickly on Earth (less than ~ 1000 years is all they can tell).

since before christmas i have had also. wife had about 4 weeks before .also tingling of skin .headaches going threw paracetamol to much. like 8 a day tried antibiotics for ears no good also ear drops. ringing now. also we know some one else with ear problems .hes going to c a specialist .i dident tell him loads of people getting this afliction as he isnt in to doom stuff

The reason plants produce compounds that stimulate receptors in our brains is because of our common ancestry.

When our most recent common ancestor between cannabis sativa and humans split off, we both had the machinery to produce similar compounds. Plants specialized these compounds to act as a deterrent to herbivores and insects, the other branch, where humans eventually come off of, specialized these molecules for signaling systems throughout their bodies.
