The C-class flares are possible but not probable. A partial halo CME was detected by SOHO/LASCO on December 5. The CME was first observed in the SOHO/LASCO C2 field of view at about 00:36 UT, had angular width of about 210 degrees, projected speed around 750 km/s and was directed somewhat eastward of the Sun-Earth line. It was associated with C1.7 flare from the Catania sunspot group 41 (NOAA AR 1528) situated close to the East solar limb. The Earth is currently inside of the slow (320 km/s) solar wind. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is stable and has value of about 3 nT. We expect quiet geomagnetic conditions in the following hours. The arrival of a CME-driven shock associated with the partial-halo CME from December 5 is expected late on December 7 or early on December 8, and it might result in active geomagnetic conditions. I believe that is an asteroid/comet. You see them quite frequently. In fact it's amazing just what you do see when you look close enough, and this video has been looked at by many, very closely!!!  It appears to me that the ball of light hits and bounces off the larger object in question... Nice catch, it does appear to do so, but I would think if there was damage to a lens, anything that would go past would be somewhat distorted, like looking through a chip in a windshield, and would appear to bounce off. Solar wind speed at SOHO ranged between 341 and 422 km/s The background x-ray flux was at the class B1 level. At midnight UTC the visible solar disk had 7 spotted active regions (in 2K resolution SDO images). Region 11621 [N15W70] decayed further and could become spotless before rotating out of view. Region 11623 [N08W33] added a few tiny spots and has weak polarity intermixing. Region 11625 [N12W34] decayed slowly and quietly. Region 11626 [N12E11] decayed slowly and could soon become spotless. New region 11627 [S15W08] emerged on December 3 and was numbered by SWPC 2 days later. The region decayed slowly on Dec.5. New region 11628 [N11E65] rotated into view on December 4 and got its NOAA number one day later. Spotted regions not numbered by NOAA/SWPC: New region S2094 [N20E41] emerged with a tiny spot. They have it as Type II though I can see a little more area covered that may qualify it as Type III,though it may be just below that threshold. New region 11628 [N11E65] rotated into view on December 4 and got its NOAA number one day later. Spotted regions not numbered by NOAA/SWPC: New region S2094 [N20E41] emerged with a tiny spot.
