That would be the 18 to 35 year olds. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1279601Actually it would be whatever group you are in, asshole. |

I went the engineering route and found a job, but he majored in political science for undergrad and got his graduate degree in public admin and has been unemployed for the past year. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1349056He is living with his parents and my dad calls him "pathetic," "a loser," "spoiled," and "weak." It makes me mad because I know this guy is bright and has a passion for that field, but I hate the way people will judge you if you aren't "successful" and going through rough times. It's not just my father either. Many people look down their nose at you if you aren't rolling in dough and really getting ahead in life. It's like you are inferior if you don't fit the overachiever mold, for whatever reason. Very sad, and I consider myself to be conservative. I just have empathy for others and am not cold-hearted like so many of these self-righteous types are. If you are going through similar troubles as my best friend, my prayers are with you. Your Dad is a shithead. |

Surely the kid would like to work and no damn doubt jobs are hard to find. But does he have a spoiled attitude? A ton of people do, esp until they start supporting themselves. Not saying your Dad needs to be so harsh, tho How is the job mkt for young engineers, BTW? |

I learned early on to treat people with respect... because you never know where you or the other person may be 25 years from now. Your dad may find himself down and out or debilitated by disease, and your friend may have found a direction in life and be in a position to be of assistance to him. Won't that be an awkward situation for your father. |

You'll find the older you get, the less you'll feel the need to impress your parents. Parental approval is for the young. Be your own person. Form your own opinions. Accept that not everyone will agree. And, hey, that's life. They did nothing to cause the economic mess we are currently in. Furthermore, young people have very limited opportunities available today. The current shitty job market is not their doing. So, you older bitter people who are critical of younger people really need to go fuck yourselves. |

Most people think if a man isn't wealthy or a woman isn't attractive, that they have no value. You might as well get used to it. Most people are cruel, that's just the way the world is, and it is what is contributing to the downfall of the human race. Don't cry about it... toughen up and don't be led into thinking the way they do. Water always wins. |

No more learning stuff that people do not need to survive on or to use. Computer sciences is one of these emerging basic trades that we today can't live without I think... |

Fatstogie User ID: 1315794 United States 04/24/2011 09:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Your dad measures life success in dollars. Hes more lost than your friend is. And being broke is very helpful in enlightenment. if i hadnt gone unemployed for 2 years in 08,09 i may never have had the time to find myself at all. Tell your dad, fuck money. And fuck a job(slavery). Oh and i install a/c. But i work as little as possible. Tomorrow i could work if i wanted. But i dont want to. And shit i only have a couple grand in the bank. But ii dont even care to amass savings anymore. I had savings that i used while i was unemployed. And im 26. NOt many 26 year olds hold a contractors license. At least not that ive met. And ive met quite a few. But who cares. What does it mean? The same thing as money means. Nothing. Although i used to say teh same things, untill it was my ass that was unemployed. Tell your friend not to worry about it. Embrace his tribulation. It puts a lot into perspective when your not being a busy bee doing bullshit during the prime time of the day all the time. |
