Avoiding Top 10 GMOs in Your Daily Life
Avoiding GMOs can be a challenge given the fact that Monsanto continues to silence most any legislation looking to enforce the labeling of GMOs on a state-wide of nationwide level, however it is very possible. While the best option is searching for a high quality organic source sporting the USDA organic label, there are certainly alternatives to reduce your consumption of GMOS when it comes to non-organic food sources.

Monsanto’s Top 7 Lies About GMO Labeling and Proposition 37
Mike Barrett
Friday, August 24, 2012
Activist Post

Due to the near future voting on November 6, 2012 for California’s Proposition 37, there has been a lot of heat going back and forth concerning GMO foods. Up until now, 10′s of million of dollars have been funneled into the opposing side of the bill, with biotechnology giant Monsanto dishing out a whopping $4.2 million alone. Monsanto has even recently published a page on their site titled ”Taking a Stand: Proposition 37, The California Labeling Proposal,” where the GMO giant attempts to logically explain why it is against GMO labeling.

Needless to say, the post reeks of false and misleading statements, and oftentimes downright deception. Here are the top 7 lies Monsanto wants you to believe regarding GMO labeling and Prop 37.

6 New GMO Crops that May Soon Hit Your Dinner Table
Lisa Garber
Thursday, August 30, 2012
Activist Post

Remember when the USDA gave Monsanto’s new GMO crops the fast track to approval? Regardless of the numerous accounts of organ damage, pesticide-resistant weeds, and unintentionally mutated organisms like resistant insects, our own government is manipulating the game to let “biotech bullies” like Monsanto get speedier regulatory reviews. Consequently, the environment, livestock, and consumers will be exposed to even greater danger.

As stated in their press release, the Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, envisions transforming the USDA “into a high-performing organization that focuses on its customers.” We’d like to think that we, the consumers, are those customers. The likes of Monsanto, Dow, and Syngenta, however, would probably disagree.

The only way people will wake up about the daegnrs is by having another big outbreak. One that the media isn't paid not to report on- that is.There's just too much money in it for Monsanto for anyone to stop them. You'll be eating plenty of animals that never existed in nature soon. Get your fork. The latest wicked little batch combines goat, and spider genes to make a new super salmon(not kidding). Hmm I've never tasted spider before but its never too late to try with Monstano's new gene/DNA recipe! As an added bonus the FDA says its illegal to label GMO salmon, because it might confuse you. I know in my heart they are doing it for us because they love us!Enjoy your fascism!

Flawed organic foods study really just a media psyop to confuse the public about organics while pushing GMOs

(NaturalNews) If you read the mainstream news headlines today, you might be shocked to see headlines that say things like, "Organic foods no healthier than conventional foods" or "Organic foods may not be healthier for you." You'll see these headlines all across the usual disinfo outlets: NPR, Associated Press, Reuters, Washington Post, WebMD and elsewhere.

The problem with these headlines is that they are flatly false. The study these news outlets are quoting actually confirms that organic foods are far healthier for you than conventional foods.

So how is the mainstream media lying about this? By fudging the facts, of course.

For starters, the "study" isn't even a study. It was just a review of other studies. No new laboratory analysis was done whatsoever!

The "review" was conducted at Stanford University and published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. You can read the abstract here:
[link to annals.org]

As the study itself concludes:

• Exposure to chemical pesticides was significantly lower in organic foods (roughly 30% less than conventional foods).

• Exposure to "superbugs" in meat (antibiotic-resistant bacteria) was also significantly lower in organic foods (roughly a 33% risk difference).

• The study conclusion says, right out, that "Consumption of organic foods may reduce exposure to pesticide residues and antibiotic-resistant bacteria."

Top 10 Foods That Contain High Fructose Corn Syrup
Elizabeth Renter
Sunday, September 9, 2012
Activist Post

It’s super cheap—cheaper than sugar—and that means processed food manufacturers can load up on it, sweetening their goodies at rock-bottom prices and further driving our waistlines out. It’s high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and it’s found in some pretty surprising places. In fact, the foods with high fructose corn syrup may be foods you eat every single day.

While this Huffington Post article on the hidden presence of HFCS says “the jury is still out” on whether it’s dangerous or any more dangerous than sugar, we know differently. This cheap sweetener has been linked to obesity, learning ability and memory, and high blood pressure, to name a few health issues. As if that isn’t enough, it has also been shown to contain toxic mercury.

So, while some would have you believe HFCS is no more dangerous than white sugar (as if that isn’t bad enough), we know differently.

Promoting “Healthy” GMO Food. Agri-Business’ “Anti-Organic” Campaign
By Tony Cartalucci
September 09, 2012
Land Destroyer

Anti-organic “study” is not news, rather, coordinated propaganda campaign. Harry Wallop of the London Telegraph ends his anti-organic food editorial with the following sentence: “Tomorrow, the baby is going to get an extra dollop of pesticide-sprayed carrots.”

Whether or not Wallop is as brain-addled as he leads on to being, the point of his editorial is to encourage similar attitudes amongst the Telegraph’s readership, attempting to manipulate public perception in the wake of a recent Stanford “study” regarding organic food.

Whether or not readers of the Telegraph will put their own health and that of their children at risk for the sake of protecting big-agri’s bottom line and the faltering paradigm that big-agri products are safe for human consumption simply because Harry Wallop thinks its good to feed his baby with pesticide-sprayed carrots remains to be seen.

The London Telegraph, when not fabricating news to support England’s latest imperial adventures overseas, is at the forefront of many of the largest corporate-financier funded lobbying campaigns. Recently, someone has splurged, and splurged big on anti-organic food lobbying built atop a suspect Stanford study.

Corporate Giant Nestlé Makes Contradictions Concerning GMOs
Lisa Garber
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Activist Post

GMOs are not the answer, Nestlé personnel says, but they’ll follow the money. Nestlé has taken measures to calculate its water footprint and educate farmers to practice sustainable farming, but has meanwhile wiggled over $1 million to the “Say No to 37” campaign. (The campaign fights the proposal to label genetically modified organisms — GMOs – in California.)

Nestlé Supports Sustainability (Or Not)

Nestlé has been caught contradicting itself, however. While one of its hands pushes against GMO-labeling, the other—the Swiss one—is championing sustainable agriculture. Hans Jöhr, Nestlé’s corporate head of sustainable agriculture, proclaims that GM isn’t the solution to world hunger.

There are a lot of new breeding technologies today that don’t use GM food. You can do a lot of things without GM. GM per se is not a golden bullet, but may be an interesting tool in the box.

While Jöhr may have the right idea, Nestlé USA isn’t cooperating.

Aspartame: Approved In 90 Nations, But Damages Brain
Sayer Ji, Contributor
Saturday, September 15, 2012
Activist Post

A new study on aspartame has the potential to reignite the decades-old controversy behind this artificial sweetener's safety, or lack thereof.

As far back as 1996, folks were writing about the potential link between aspartame and increasing brain tumor rates.

Indeed, its intrinsic neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity has been confirmed in the biomedical literature. Yet, aspartame has been approved for use in thousands of consumer products in over 90 countries, [ii] and is still being consumed by millions worldwide on a daily basis – despite the fact that over 40 adverse health effects of aspartame have been documented.

The new study, published in the September edition of the Journal of Bioscience and titled, "Effect of chronic exposure to aspartame on oxidative stress in the brain of albino rats," aimed to test the hypothesis that chronic consumption of aspartame may be causing neurological damage in exposed populations.

Levels of Arsenic in Rice Skyrocket, FDA Urged to Set Standards
Lisa Garber
Thursday, September 20, 2012
Activist Post

A year after consumer groups pressured the Food and Drug Administration to define standards for arsenic in apple juice, they are now forming a similar push for rice. A new study shows an unsettling high level of arsenic — a carcinogenic element that appears in inorganic and organic form — in rice grown in southern states, but the FDA is discouraging panic. Still, arsenic in rice is scaring consumers everywhere.

“Our advice right now is that consumers should continue to eat a balanced diet that includes a wide variety of grains — not only for good nutrition but also to minimize any potential consequences from consuming any one particular food,” says FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg.

High Levels of Arsenic Detected in Rice
Hamburg also cites the “very few samples” and “variability in the levels” of arsenic in rice found in studies conducted by both the FDA and Consumer Reports. On Wednesday, the FDA released only 200 of the anticipated 1,200 samples of its study, which will go unfinished until the end of the year. Consumer Reports’ study — which had 223 samples — had similar results, with up to 8.7 micrograms of inorganic arsenic per serving.

While arsenic is naturally occurring is water, air, food, and soil, only the organic variety passes through the body harmlessly, while inorganic arsenic — found in pesticides and insecticides — are carcinogenic. Consumer Reports’ Urvashi Rangan says, “It doesn’t make sense not to have standards for rice,” especially since inorganic arsenic can, over time, build up in the body.

Homeland Security is Working for Monsanto

William Kincaid
Monday, September 24, 2012

When we see photographs of rats grossly deformed by massive tumors after eating genetically engineered corn laced with Roundup, it's not good news for Monsanto.

People understand instantly in looking at those pathetic rats that organic food is not a niche market or a expensive luxury, but a life or death issue, because the rats were fed corn that is part of the American diet.

All the studies that were required but bypassed before GMOs were unleashed into the food chain seem compressed into this one devastating study by CRIIGEN.

The Monsanto lies are exposed. People must avoid GMOs at all costs and eat organic food if they are to survive.

Will The GMO-Breast Cancer Link Be Pink-Washed Away?

Sayer Ji, Contributor
Sunday, September 23, 2012
Activist Post

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) less than two weeks away, the latest bombshell GMO/Roundup study produced by a French research team, and presently making international headlines, is well-timed. The researchers found, in the first long-term GM corn and Roundup feeding study of its kind, that female rats, exposed to concentrations well below official safety limits, developed massive, progressive mammary tumors which either lead to premature death, or required euthanasia due to their great suffering.

Why would this be of concern to BCAM? After all, BCAM is the annual pinkwashing celebration, where people collectively and forcibly remove the thought of there being preventable and treatable causes of breast cancer from their minds, hurl themselves over the lemming-like cliff of cause-marketing, e.g. Buckets for a Cure, sacrificing their time, energy and money raising billions more for a pharmaceutical cure for a pharmaceutically incurable condition. This annual ritual celebrates ribbon-wearing vacuity, pretending like "carcinogens" don't exist, or that it doesn't matter that a carcinogen-producing chemical company, now defunct Imperial Chemical Industries, and its pharmaceutical subsidiary, Zeneca, co-founded Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985.

How to Cleanse Your Body with 4 Natural and Free Detox Methods
Elizabeth Renter
Sunday, September 23, 2012
Activist Post

Detoxifying your body is a way to rid it of both physical and mental/spiritual toxins. But, you don’t have to pay big bucks for ingredients to a crazy tea or supplement; you don’t even need to go on a special diet (assuming you already eat whole, natural foods). If you want to know how to cleanse your body using simple techniques, here are 4 simple and nearly free detox methods you can use everyday, and they only take a few minutes.

Carolanne Wright, writing for NaturalNews, suggests that these 3 solutions are a “magical trio” of affordable and simple detox tools. She notes that these three things can encourage a “healthy body, sparking mind, and balanced emotions.”

How to Cleanse Your Body - Breathe
It’s natural and we all do it. But, did you know that conscious breathing can reduce stress exponentially, and deliver life-giving oxygen to all of the cells in our body? When we don’t give our attention to our breath, we are often only making use of a small portion of our lung capacity. This shallow breathing can create tense muscles and contribute to stress and fatigue. Deep breathing throughout the day releases these muscles and provides a mini-meditation. If you’re looking for how to cleanse your body on a more mindful level, this is how to do it.

While Wright recommends kapalbhati as a specific mindful-breathing approach, any deep, mindful and controlled breathing technique can have major benefits. When you feel your chest constricting as the day goes on, or if you just need a break from the constant going of life, stop and focus on your breath. Breathe in deeply, expanding your chest as your lungs fill, hold the breath for a few seconds, and slowly release it. As you do these breathing exercises, visualize the healing oxygen circulating throughout your body and rejuvenating your cells.

The Tide Turns: Monsanto's GM Corn Suspended In Russia
Sayer Ji, Contributor
Wednesday, September 26, 2012
Activist Post

In a bold and encouraging move on Tuesday, Russian authorities suspended the import of Monsanto's genetically-modified corn over cancer fears spurred by an alarming long-term animal feeding study performed by French researchers at the University of Caen and published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology this month.

According to Russia Today: The Russia's consumer-rights regulator Rospotrebnadzor asked scientists at the country's Institute of Nutrition to review the study. The watchdog has also contacted to European Commission's Directorate General for Health & Consumers to explain the EU's position on GM corn.

The temporary suspension will immediately affect American imports of corn. The government of France has already embarked upon investigation as to the safety issues surrounding its use, and actions of this sort could soon be followed by other nations.

10 Reasons Why We Don’t Need GM Foods
September 12, 2012

Genetically modified (GM) foods are often promoted as a way to feed the world. But this is little short of a confidence trick. Far from needing more GM foods, there are urgent reasons why we need to ban them altogether.

1. GM foods won’t solve the food crisis
A 2008 World Bank report concluded that increased biofuel production is the major cause of the increase in food prices.[1] Biofuels are crops grown for fuel rather than food. GM giant Monsanto has been at the heart of the lobbying for biofuels — while profiting enormously from the resulting food crisis and using it as a PR opportunity to promote GM foods!

“The climate crisis was used to boost biofuels, helping to create the food crisis; and now the food crisis is being used to revive the fortunes of the GM industry.” — Daniel Howden, Africa correspondent, The Independent (UK)[2]

“The cynic in me thinks that they’re just using the current food crisis and the fuel crisis as a springboard to push GM crops back on to the public agenda. I understand why they’re doing it, but the danger is that if they’re making these claims about GM crops solving the problem of drought or feeding the world, that’s bullshit.” – Prof Denis Murphy, head of biotechnology, University of Glamorgan, Wales[3]
