Four Simultaneous Monsanto Attacks on Organic Food in California and A Monsanto Hostage
Sam Jennings
Saturday, September 29, 2012
Activist Post

There are at least four major active Monsanto attacks on food in California going on right now. The last listed exposes the iron fist Monsanto tries to hide.

1. Monsanto is pouring millions into defeating Prop 37.
Prop 37 calls for the labeling of genetically engineered (GMO) ingredients in food. Monsanto lawyer and VP, Michael Taylor, was responsible when Clinton put him in at the FDA, for the first GMO in the food chain - rBGH, a GM-bovine hormone linked to a large increase in risk of breast, colon and prostate cancer, for deregulating the approval process for GMOs, and for keeping GMOs unlabeled (even coming up with a white paper for Monsanto on how to sue farmers for attempting to label their milk as not based on rBGH. It was during this time at the FDA that 40,000 documents were hidden which showed extreme toxicity of GMOs, before Taylor arranged for GMOs to begin to be planted regardless

How to Increase Dopamine Levels: Foods to Eat and What to do to Feel Good
Elizabeth Renter
Saturday, September 29, 2012
Activist Post

Dopamine is the brain’s feel good chemical, sending feelings of well-being and pleasure into your body. In addition to simply making you feel good, dopamine helps control weight, energy levels, and supports brain and heart health. Without it, we would be more fat, unhappy, and tired.

But if you know how to increase dopamine levels, you can take advantage of this feel good chemical on command. The best part? You can increase dopamine levels just by eating certain foods.

Fat, unhappy, and tired — those words seem to fit many Americans quite well. Fortunately, boosting dopamine production levels could help. The right amount of dopamine could lift you from depression, help you lose weight, and put some life back into your life.

How to Increase Dopamine Levels Through Foods and Activity
But, how can you boost dopamine levels naturally? Since dopamine is synthesized from tyrosine, you can simply consume foods rich in tyrosine to boost dopamine production. Certain foods help balance dopamine levels, including:

* Fish – Evidence suggest Omega 3 fats may be linked to dopamine production
* Eggs - Contains tyrosine
* Spirulina – Contains tyrosine
* Red beets – Contain betaine, acting as an antidepressant, and tyrosine
* Apples – Contain quercetin, to prevent neurodegeneration and boost dopamine
* Kale – Rich in folate, to trigger dopamine production
* Oregano Oil – Has promising effects on mood swings and cravings by increasing dopamine levels
* Bananas – Including the amino acid tyrosine, which boosts dopamine
* Strawberries and blueberries – Include tyrosine, like bananas
* Green tea – Contains polyphenols, good for brain and heart function, as well as dopamine production
* Herbs like ginkgo biloba, nettles, dandelion, and ginseng

Scientists Move to Create Genetically Modified Camels for Pharmaceutical GM Milk
Elizabeth Renter
Friday, September 28, 2012
Activist Post

As if genetically altered salmon, genetically modified babies, and GMO crops aren’t science fiction enough for you — soon drug makers will be using genetically modified camels in their pharmaceuticals. Yes, you read that right — camels. According to the Science and Development Network, the camels will be used to make genetically modified milk, which will then be processed into cheaper drugs.

Genetically Modified Camels for Pharmaceutical GM Milk – What?
The drugs from these laboratory-created camels will include insulin and clotting factors for hemophilia. They will be used, at least initially, in the arid regions of the Middle East and North Africa, from which the camels originally came. Apparently, that’s why camels are being used instead of cattle, because of their adjustment to the extreme climates.

Cows would be better producers of transgenic protein as they produce more milk, said Serge Muyldermans of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Immunology at Vrje University Brussel in Belgium. But as camels can be kept in arid areas and are used to living under harsh conditions, they might be better suited to the Middle East.

GMO Technology, Glyphosate Toxicity Leaving Men Sterile
Elizabeth Renter
Sunday, September 30, 2012
Activist Post

What if the pesticides and herbicides being sprayed on your food was causing your sperm to die? What if GMO crops had the same effect? What would it mean for humanity if this “modern food marvel” (as Monsanto would like you to think) was actually making men infertile, and eventually wipe us out?

Sounds pretty end-of-times-ish, but it’s happening right now. Well, studies indicate that factors like glyphosate toxicity and GMO technologies could be playing a significant role in the growing number of men who struggle with fertility.

Glyphosate Toxicity and GMO Technology
One study in particular found that glyphosate (an ingredient in Roundup), leaves a residue on crops and this residue is “actually toxic to testicle cells.” Also, the residue lowers testosterone synthesis—this means the glyphosate toxicity lowers the amount of the male sex hormone available for the body to use.

The negative effects from glyphosate toxicity vary, but some people have been known to develop breasts, have a variety of birth defects, and have been known to experience carcinogenic effects as well. The people are also becoming sterile over time. Given the rate of consumption, they will likely be completely sterile within a decade.

Another study, this one out of Russia, found that hamsters who consume GM soybeans have a slower sexual maturation process and in a few generations, they weren’t able to reproduce.

“We noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from their cubs and continued to feed them as before. These pairs’ growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly.” By the third generation, the hamsters were infertile.

Monsanto's New Slogan: Our Corn Won't Give You Cancer!
Rick Banfield

Activist Post

Keith Kloor, writing at Slate, jumped in to try to stop the tidal wave of negative publicity about Monsanto set off by major study in France by Dr. Gilles-Eric Seralini, proving Monsanto's corn causes cancers and rapid death. But Kloor made things 1000 times worse.

In his article, "GMO Opponents Are the Climate Skeptics of the Left," Kloor goes through all kinds of breathtaking, logic-defying contortions to try to convince the left, somehow, that GMO-opponents aren't . . . themselves.

Doesn't he know the whole left detests Monsanto and what they are doing to corrupt food and democracies around the world, and there is no division about it? While he made a stab at creating a internecine battle between left and left, it was a hopeless (albeit perhaps very well-paid) task.

And the reality is there is not only unity between lefties about Monsanto. The entire left abhors Monsanto. But the right does, too, including climate skeptics. Also the middle detests them. Also, non-political people. Also anarchists. Also militias. Also sewing circles. Even family pets can't stand them. Monsanto has been a gift to everyone in that way, bringing the whole country together as one big ticked off family.

The Renewable Insanity of Monsanto, Bill Gates, the Rockefellers and Craig Venter
Cassandra Anderson, Contributor
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
Activist Post

Monsanto, Bill Gates, the Rockefellers, Craig Venter and other investors are working behind-the-scenes to bring genetically engineered (GE) algae to market with products that include fuel, animal feed made with manure, human food and vaccines.

The US government has a stake in this enterprise, too. Obama put a moratorium on drilling for oil on federal land and voted down the Keystone pipeline, in addition to subsidizing the nuclear industry instead of increasing oil reserves.

Obama has advocated replacing 17% of US oil imports with oil made from algae.

Algae could be the next bottomless pit that the government flushes money down, to the detriment of the taxpayer, similar to the many solar energy scandals.

There are two major areas of algae research that the government and private entities are funding; open pond algae farms use massive amounts of freshwater, but this is the cheapest option. The second option is mutated, genetically engineered (GE) or synthetic algae that may be able to use saltwater and polluted water, but there are risks of out-of-control consequences.

GMO Study Broadcast: Russian GMO Rat Experiment to be Broadcast 24/7

Activist Post

Russian researchers will stream a live experiment to show the effects of GMO feed on rats. This comes after a French study found GMOs to have negative effects on rats, which lead to a provisional Russian suspension on imported Monsanto genetically modified corn.

Russian Scientists Condemn GMOs, Plan a Unique Experiment
French scientists at the University of Caen sounded the alarm on September 19 after publishing images from their study of tumors on rats fed American GM maize. The National Association for Genetic Safety (NAGS) researchers in Russia have publicly condemned genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and have declared plans to conduct an experiment which members of the public can see, allowing the latter to formulate well-informed opinions about GMOs themselves.

These researchers will install web cameras in the cages of four groups of rats.

- Group 1 will be fed a diet high in GM soybeans and corn.
- Group 2 will be fed a diet low in GM soybeans and corn.
- Group 3 will be fed a diet with no GMOs.
- Group 4 will be fed a diet with standard rat feed.

New Study Confirms GMO Crops Causing More Pesticide Use, Superweeds
Lisa Garber
Friday, October 5, 2012
Activist Post

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) require more pesticide use on crops, say the authors of a 16-year study published in Environmental Sciences Europe. According to the researchers, 527 million pounds of a toxic herbicide have inundated farmlands since 1996.

What’s more, this abhorrent amount is much greater than that promised by Monsanto, which claims that GM crops require smaller doses of herbicides like the company’s best-selling Roundup Ready.

This study found, however, that although farmers did reduce Roundup Ready use by 2 percent between 1996 and 1999, herbicide use resurged with a vengeance thereafter. This was a result of the emergence of “superweeds” that resist herbicides, requiring farmers to use more of it with each application.

EU sides with Monsanto in 'GMO Cancer Corn' word war
05 October, 2012,

The European Food Safety Authority has rejected a controversial study by French scientists linking GM corn to cancer. Many in Europe are already calling for stricter controls on GMOs, as farmers weigh the lucrative crops against health concerns.

In September, French scientists from the University of Caen released a study claiming that rats fed on a diet containing NK603 – a corn seed variety made tolerant to amounts of Monsanto's Roundup weed-killer – or given water mixed with the product at levels permitted in the United States died earlier than those on a standard diet.

The study elicited calls for stricter controls on already unpopular genetically modified (GM) crops in Europe. France had already issued a temporary ban on another Monsanto corn seed (MON810) in May due to a similar study.

However, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) claimed the study lacked enough specific information on Friday, and asked the scientists who conducted it to provide more details on their testing methods. The move adds to the constant back and forth in the debate over genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The "design, reporting and analysis of the study … are inadequate," the EFSA said in its review, concluding that it could not "regard the authors' conclusions as scientifically sound."

Monsanto lawsuit heading to Supreme Court
Published: 06 October, 2012

An Indiana farmer will have his case against biotech giants Monsanto heard by the US Supreme Court next year after the country’s top justices agreed to review the man’s appeal.

Vernon Bowman, a soybean farmer from the Midwest in his 70s, has been fighting to have an earlier decision awarded to Monsanto Corp. appealed by the Justice Department. On Friday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear his case and say they expect it to make it to Washington in January or February of 2013.

Bowman was originally sued by the Monsanto Corp. for allegedly violating their terms of use for a genetically modified soybean crop that is unaffected by standard pesticides because of the company’s patented Roundup Ready technology. Per the company’s licensing contract, purchasers of the product are only allowed to harvest one round of crops using the GMO-seed. Monsanto sued Mr. Bowman because they insisted he was at fault for planting a second harvest using commercial-purchased "commodity seeds" from a grain elevator that contained, in part, Roundup Ready seeds.

Does 100% Natural Mean GMO-Free? Natural Regulators Side with Monsanto
Elizabeth Renter
Saturday, October 6, 2012
Activist Post

When you purchase shampoo or cosmetics and it has a sticker on it that claims it is “natural”, what’s your impression? You think the ingredients are all-natural, right? Naturally, you are not alone.

However, the agency who is in charge of certifying personal care items as “natural” seems to think GMO ingredients fit under this umbrella. No matter what product it is, 100% natural does NOT also mean GMO-free.

The Question of 100% Natural
The Natural Products Association (NPA) claims its role in regards to personal care items is to help consumers choose those products that contain only safe and natural ingredients. They say their job is “to protect and equip consumers to maximize their well being.” As a result, they developed a set of guidelines and a certification process for personal care creators. The “essence” of their labeling process is that the product must contain only 100% natural ingredients, be safe and free of ingredients with any suspected human health risk, be free from animal testing, and be packaged in environmentally friendly materials.

Infertility Gene in GMO Corn

Genetically modified foods are getting a lot of press these days, especially in California where Proposition 37, the labeling of GMO foods, will be on the November 6th Election Day ballot. Why is the GMO industry so upset about having GM foods labeled? Could it be if consumers knew what GMOs are capable of doing not only to the environment but also to the human body, they would not purchase them, as happened in many countries, especially the European Union?

Would you believe that the United States is the only industrialized country in the world that does not permit the labeling of GMOs for either fresh or processed foods? However, 14 states have legislation introduced regarding GMO labeling that seems to be going nowhere fast. In 2005 Alaska passed a biotech seafood labeling law.

Alaskan Governor Frank Murkowski recently signed into law Senate Bill 25 which is the United States' first law for labeling genetically engineered food. [4]

What’s Next for GMOs? How About Genetically Modified Trees!
Elizabeth Renter
Thursday, October 18, 2012

Industries are all about making more money, at any cost. If they can develop something now that will save money and produce more down the road, they will—often tossing ethical concerns to the side. Need proof? Just look at Big Pharma’s sales of harmful drugs, their cycle of side effects and treatments, or even how they want to make genetically modified plants to produce pharmaceutical drugs. Need more proof? Look at Monsanto and environmentally destructive herbicides. The latest movement towards increased production at a lesser cost comes in the form of genetically modified trees.

Further Altering Nature, Now with Genetically Modified Trees!
Genetically modified trees are being developed in the U.S. and around the world. A new paper, circulated at outside of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the Convention on Biological Diversity cautions that GM tree research is being done without much oversight and with limited information.

Is The Nation of India Rearing To Kick Monsanto Out?
Sayer Ji, Contributor
Wednesday, October 17, 2012

A report from the August 17 edition of the American Association for the Advance of Science's journal Science titled, "Negative Report on GM Crops Shakes Government's Food Agenda," revealed that an Indian high-profile parliamentary panel, only a week before, recommended that GM crop "field trails under any garb should be discontinued forthwith," and that further GM agricultural research should "only be done under strict containment."

Moreover, in a press conference after the report's release, the panel's chair, Basudeb Acharia, said in no uncertain terms: "India should not go in for GM food crops."

According to the Science article's author, Pallava Bagla, the panel's recommendation is being regarded by some "as the death knell of the development of genetically modified food crops in India." Dissenting interests, such as India's chief of crop research, Swapan Dutta, a rice geneticist and deputy director at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, responded to the report by suggesting that if implemented, the panel's recommendations would paralyze research and threaten India's food security, and "hope for GM research in India is lost."

India May Ban GMO Crop Field Trials for 10 Years
Anthony Gucciardi
Monday, October 22, 2012
Activist Post

It has been a devastating month for Monsanto as nations around the globe continue to enact bans and restraints on the company’s genetically modified crop varieties. India, the same country that hit Monsanto with ‘biopiracy’ charges for patenting life on the planet, is the latest nation to take a stand.

The nation’s new expert committee appointed by the Supreme Court of India is now calling upon the Indian government to enact a ban on all GMO crop field trials for the next 10 years.

The new law would forbid any biotech agencies from testing their latest GMO crops on India’s soil, therefore preventing the serious issue of contamination and environmental damage - contamination that is much more than an unlikely but problematic scenario. Monsanto has been caught in the past contaminating even organic seed varieties, and has gone as far as to plant their experimental crops before the USDA allowed them to. Thankfully, the organic farmers were able to catch the contamination before it spread.

Cheap organic foods? In the face of global economic struggle, the issue of personal finance is at the heart of the average consumer. But do you really have to shed an exorbitant amount of your money to purchase organic foods over conventional?

The answer is no, and there is a surprisingly large amount of high quality organic foods that are quite cheap — even when considering low income families. Even families on foodstamps have been able to live entirely on an organic diet on the foodstamp income alone.

There’s even a documentary about it called Foodstamped, which is hosted free online. The couple in the film eats a 100% organic diet on as little as $40 a week. There are keys to keeping costs down such as buying from farmers markets when possible and always buying whole food options as opposed to pre-made or processed meals, but I am going to give you a list of 10 key items that are really quite cheap.

Another Study Finds GMO Compounds in 100% of Pregnant Women and Fetuses

In many ways we are searching for real science, not funded by the GMO companies themselves, to tell us the truth about genetically modified organisms and their dangers. Because these companies control access to their chemicals and any related research, what we have is little. But from the little we know, there is much to fear concerning genetically modified organisms.

Most recently, scientists in Canada conducted a study on pregnant and non-pregnant women, looking for the chemicals found in pesticides related to genetically modified foods. What they found was frightening indeed.

100% of Women Had At Least 1 of These Toxins
According to GreenMedInfo.com, the scientists were looking for 5 basic toxins. Those include:

- Glyphosate (Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide)
- Gluphosinate (an herbicide)
- AMPA (a metabolite of glyphosate)
- 3-MMPA (a metabolite of gluphosinate)
- Cry1Ab (the Bt toxin of gluphosinate)
