Very angry first grader with a mess of crayons with a unique propensity for obtuse geometry! Btw, Oracle, I believe that the picture Luisport is showing is NOT a new cone there, circled in red. It looks like a destabilization of the fissure formation beneath the cone. Either heat or erosion or a combination of both seems to be making it weak. This may be a concern for underwater landslides because of that large deposits bank beneath it. Remember...any material above water that is being kept in place by material underwater will slide as well if the material underwater goes first. The quakes are intensifying and beginning to mount more often in the south. Hierro's patterns are unfolding again. IF this follows past performance and the South is to rise again (yeehaw to all you rebels out there) then watch for poweful larger quakes in the 3's and maybe even the 4's or higher to develop...some of which may be in the North. |

La Palma's FRON MAZO is now 2.5 months behind, since its last update. This particular graph would probably be the most troubling if it were in fact kept up to date. Hence the reason why it is probably NOT kept up to date. [link to www.01.ign.es] |

The stain looks amazingly close to La Restinga this morning. Zoomed in to the spot with the cam and you can see the docks clearly. The dark part of the stain appears to be on the side towards La Restinga rather than the middle of the entire stain. I don't see any huge smoking lava bombs though. The water is really choppy, so not so sure you could tell the difference between waves and bombs. Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not. --Samuel Johnson |

Its epicenter was at sea a few kilometers southwest of Tacorón the coast at a depth of 16km. As we watched last night's volcanic activity has increased in intensity. The tremor began recording pulses of considerable power since last night. Observation by cameras reveals that continues the emission of material and gases intense form of the submarine eruption." Following this earthquake swarm there has been some increase in eruption activity. Resulting in some material reaching the surface of the ocean. The reason for this activity is that new magma is being injected into El Hierro volcano from depth. This magma is pushing the magma that is already there closer to the surface, creating dikes and sills in the rock along the way. This also increases the eruption in already open vents.'' look at the epicentre of this quake.. [link to www.jonfr.com] right at the base of those huge cliffs |
