One of NASA's two Stereo spacecraft was in position to capture the comet as it crossed the far side of the sun. It too has been gathering data on the comet's composition, Pesnell (project scientist for the Solar Dynamics Observatory at the Goddard Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, Md.) says. [link to www.csmonitor.com] I saw it on a SOHO pic. I don't know if it is the radiation or sensor over exposure, but the blob of comet... it was a very easily see-able size compared to the sun. Like even earth is smaller than that bunch of pixels. Could it be bigger than earth? And why can they see what it is made of, and are just guessing wildly about it's size? |
