Anonymous Coward User ID: 1517165 United States 02/06/2012 12:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Civil War? How about complete societal collapse? Imagine a country without welfare, no value in currency, incapable of growing or manufacturing anything. No television, no running water, no electricity. No gas in your car, no communication from facebook, twitter, the mail services; nothing. Imagine your life without a fire department, a police department, a transportation department, etc. This isn't a Civil War we will be fighting, it will be a Survival War. How's your aim? Got any food stores? Have anything to barter? Do you have seeds and know how to garden? Do you have books to educate your fellow man with? Would you be willing to share? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1667343 United States 02/06/2012 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a snippet about that last spring. Here is the relevant excerpt from my thread: Thread: Lucid Dream: Lake 'Tekwanago' (Page 2) Also -- V for Victory is wrong, I meant V for Vendetta but I won't correctthe original post since I want to maintain its integrity. Not much new to report other than I found out that there is a canyon in Texas called Texawa Canyon. Its not far from Breckenridge, TX and it looks like it is mostly private land. I may go check it out ... drive out that way just for a day trip to see if it resonates with me at all. Quoting: tandym Also, I have had a few short snippets / symbolic dreams... details below: The first one, had about a week ago, was where highschoolers are walking outside, heading to various classes -- I can see some sort of Battle raging on in the background/distance, but in the foreground, all of the students look normal. However the textbooks they are carrying all have the red 'V' on them -- like in the movie V for Victory. The other strange thing is that in this snippet, I could only see the students walking along from the neck down (like in my tekwanago dream). I didn't see their heads -- almost as if I were watching on a TV or camera screen -- and the film was shot from the knees to the shoulders. The other snippet had to do with Revelation 11:11. It was just a symbolic / number dream and I knew it had to do with Revelation 11:11... and somehow was connected with my 9 through 11 vision from awhile back. To be fair though, I had been reading the Book of Revelation the night before since I had watched Youtube User 9Nania's latest vids about Virgo & the births of the planets, and so I wonder if that had something to do with it? But the passage was not related to the videos at all... 11:11 says: But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Not sure what it means -- though the first video was clear enough -- the kids were walking to their classes outdoors, so it would have to be taking place in a temperate climate where the schools are constructed without hallways for the most part -- such as California or Arizona. They were wearing contemporary clothing and the weather was fairly warm -- springlike I suppose, and they were wearing jeans, not shorts and tank tops. The Battle raging in the background was quite a ways off, and the people in the foreground were unaffected by it, so I think that means that life goes one, while ... civil war starts elsewhere. It did seem doomy & reddish in the background, like the deserts of New Mexico or parts of Arizona. Most of the battle that I could looked like Tanks shooting at each other, and there was a standard (flag) flying on the field, though it was tinged yellow/orange with a black device in the middle... it was not the don't tread on me/Gadsden flag, but may be a new variant of it. **edited to add video of 'V' for Victory.... A civil war in the US would most likely cause a societal collapse, but once the country was divided, or whatever happened, how long would it be until we got things back up and running... 4-8 years? maybe longer? |

So I guess it's pretty much impossible today? What if a group of states declared their secession from the United States and joined together? I can see something like this possibly happening with the states becoming more and more unique from one another with laws and the people living within them. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1089601 United States 02/06/2012 03:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Rethuglicans and Democrats are mixed in all over geographically, unlike the Civil War, where there was a pretty sharp division between North and South. Also, there is no overweening issue such as slavery infuriating people. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10285242 Ain't happening anytime soon. The division is now ideological. Not based on a singular issue or policy. It's between 3 and 5 opposing view points and 3 of those are mutually exclusive to each other. 1. The Socialist/Fascist (National Socialist, Communist, Progressive Democrats, Neo-Cons) Supreme authority of the State in the lives of its citizens, little to no deviation from the centrally planned guidelines. Maximum control over society, with limited allowance for individual choice in social or economic matters. 2. The Loyalists (Left). Support the semi-omnipotent power of a central authority to secure the basic needs of citizens at any and all cost. 3. The Moderates (Centrist). Support limited power of the State, with the sway of power held bending towards authority. 4. The Loyalists (Right) Support the semi-omnipotent power of a central authority to secure the property and wealth of its citizens, whatever the cost. 5. The Libertarians (AnCap, Sovereign and others) Support individual Liberty and Freedom, with little or no authority given to the State. Little to no 'safety net' or regulation of personal decisions. The State is relegated to matters of international policy with a bent towards non-interventionism and isolationism. Now most people will fall somewhere between these stereotypes. That's a given. The problem is, right now you've got more and more people that are swinging to the extremes. Myself included. When it comes to a Central Government this is the breakdown: #1 and #5 are mutually exclusive. #3 can cohabitate with #2 and #4 but will not survive in #1 and #5's environments. Nor will #2 survive #4 or vice versa. And God help anyone from #2, #3 or #4 get caught under #1 or #5 against their will. I'm well aware of the false left/right paradigm but I used that as an example in the degrees above. It's easier to read than a web would have been. Since we are less and less willing to compromise our ideals, especially when the perceived destruction of our respective ways of life is omnipresent, the chance for an escalation of violence to take place is conceivable, if not down right inevitable. Take me for example. I used to fall somewhere between #1 and #2. Now I'm staunchly in the #5 category. I don't see a way to exist living under the rule of #1, #2, #3 or #4. Why don't I? 'Cause no matter what you've got some politician stealing your labor while pointing a rifle at your face. See there, that's called tyranny where I'm from. So how in the Hell am I supposed to make a living? If every where I turn I'm losing my labor to people who continuously seek to take more and more of it, and losing the freedom of choice in all things that don't conform to what the State thinks is best for me, what makes it acceptable to exist under a system that has proven itself to be antagonistic towards my very existence? That's just my view point. The opposite holds true for many as well, and that's fine. We'll see whose side has more...heart, if you will. And then, you've got the huge middle section that thinks that all of us on the Fringe are fucking nutz and should be locked away. America was a wonderful experiment. It was a truly great nation, but the ravages of corruption and apathy have weakened her to the point of collapse. The divisions among it's citizens will not be assuaged by the ballot box, for no matter who wins, the rest get screwed out of something. Couple that (the political) with the escalation in racial tension and you have yourselves a 21st century Yugoslavia. Without the national memory of widespread violence, many will fail to see the warning signs until it's too late. At this point, Balkanization is inevitable. There's too much damage done to the connective tissue, and not enough will to heal whats broken. I would like nothing more than to believe that an answer to our predicament will appear. However, I'm not naive enough to believe that pretty words and appeasement will do anything more than postpone the coming conflagration. War is coming, like it or not. Just remember: Even in War there is Honor. Let's try not to remake the Hutus V. Tutsis here, ok? Once the US Military takes the side of the people and not the PWB, it'll be all over. One week - tops! Hell, martial law will be better to live under than what we have now.
