Greece can't pay it's debts and the people are so unwilling to that they are litterally burning the place down first. Hard to sit down and have a productive meeting in that atmosphere. Try reading this. [link to www.gregpalast.com] Oh I know about the corrupt government debt deal with corrupt banks. (I did read what was at the link as well) My point is still valid. The corrupt government (what government isn't?) made a deal with a corrupt bank (what international bank isnt?) to temporarily hide debt that Greece couln't pay. Very similar things have happened in other countries in Europe and here in America too and our appointment with economic and social melt down is coming for the exact same reasons. The solution is for the people to replace their government, prosecute the criminals involved, and accept that you can't run an economy based on debt and expect things not to blow up in your face at some point. If that sounds overly simplistic it is because it is a core prinicple. Since most people don't have principles anymore, the world is rife with corruption, crime, and debt among other things. I realize that not all of the Greek people voted for their elected officials and as such are not personally responsible for the actions of people they never supported in the first place. Heck, the same thing is happening here in America. The bottom line is the same. Debt can be dealt with by either paying it or not. If you don't py your debts you must find a way to either be absolved of them by sheer forgiveness or to have the declared invalid. Burning down your country in a rage isn't going to help anything. The problem of corrupt politicians and bankers and debt will remain until the people get control of themselves and their government. Nothing like that appears to be happening in Greece. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two?
