Snow (Chirpoi Is.) - YELLOW
By the satellite data the thermal anomaly and weak steam-gas emission were observed on February, 14, 15.
During another days of a week it was cloudly on the volcano.

By visual data in February, 16 the ash-gas emission was observed up to the height of 3 km above sea level.

...Within the Pu`u `O`o crater, the southwestern spatter cone continued to issue a small amount of lava; at about 1 am, there was a large amount of lava issued from the south side of the northeast spatter cone that was largely out of direct view of our Webcam array; this early morning breakout also resulted in new breakouts on the Kahauale`a tube high on the northeast flank of Pu`u `O`o cone. The tiltmeter on the north flank of Pu`u `O`o cone recorded fluctuations with an abrupt 1.3 microradian drop accompanying the above-mentioned crater-floor activity. Seismic tremor levels near Pu`u `O`o remained low. The most recent (preliminary) sulfur dioxide emission rate measurement was 300 tonnes/day on February 12, 2013, from all east rift zone sources.
Outside the crater and across the northeast flank of Pu`u `O`o cone, multiple lava flow lobes, informally called the Kahauale`a flow, continued to be active northeast on older Pu`u `O`o flows north of Pu`u Kahauale`a to the base of the 2007 perched channel (visible in Pu`u `O`o East Thermal and North Webcams); it's too early to tell whether the early morning activity from the NE spatter cone, the source of the Kahauale`a flow, will affect the Kahauale`a flow progress...

... Just like yesterday, there were lava fountains several hundred metres high which stopped at 02:40 or so. Meantime, the effusive activity from a new vent at the base of the cone continued until about 6 o’clock this morning. Like before, lava travelled down the Valle del Bove.

Interesting new data about caldera's ice cap last autumn survey:

...Latest measurements (26 November 2012)
Results of the 3 latest surveys and the survey on December 17 1999 are shown on the profiles below. Ablation in summer lowers the surface elevation of the glacier by 4-8 m from spring to autumn. Accumulation of snow restores the elevation during the winter. From autumn 1999 to autumn 2001 cauldron 7 gradually got shallower but apart from that changes were not significant. Between autumn 2001 and 2004 some cauldrons grewn, due to increasing geothermal activity. This increase was accompanied by increased seismicity and uplift (www.vedur.is), the cause probably being magma accumulation under the Katla caldera. After 2004 geothermal activity declined until a sudden increase caused the flood in Múlakvísl 9 July 2011. Mainly cauldron 16 and 9 grew in size but changes could also be seen in cauldrons 8 and 10...

13:25: The eruption is going on with a voluminous ash plume coming out of the SE Crater...
13:35: It seems activity is decreasing now...
14:25: Activity has moved back to the vents at the base of the SE cone. The tremor keeps increasing. A voluminous ash plume is coming out of the crater with probable lava fountains. What a show!
14:40: Lava is quirting from the vents at the base of the cone. A fracture has probably appeared in this area. ...
14:50: One gets the impression that the ash plume is starting well beyond the SE cone. Does that mean a fracture is slashing the cone? It seems to be more than a paroxysm, but a real summit eruption of Mount Etna.
16:00: After reaching the peak of activity I described previously, the paroxysm is coming to an end...
20:00: It should be noted that slow lava emission is continuing right now from the fissures at the southeastern base of the New South-East Crater. ..

20:30: The tremor has fallen back to a low level but the images provided by the L.A.V.E. webcam show that the NewE Crater has not fallen asleep. Incandescence is far from having disappeared and lava is still flowing along the flank of the cone. There is little doubt the next paroxysm will soon illuminate the Sicilian skies.

21:30: Boris Behncke (INGV Catania) indicates that « lava continues to issue, non-explosively, from several vents lying a few hundred meters to the east of the New Southeast Crater. »
