That makes sense. You never know what events can transpire in coming weeks. Anything can remove Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum from the running....strange things can happen, or information is revealed. I think this is going to be a VERY interesting year with the good guys making great gains but it will be in the midst of economic and societal breakdown and upheaval. It's how we get through the coming months and few years that is at stake. The more that seek only the truth and honor it, accept it, and change it if we find the truth lacking in honesty and all of the good things we are capable of.

Those corrupt individuals that are revealed to be corrupt and self-serving need to be made IRRELEVANT....shun them.....after they are prosecuted, that is. </rant>

Ron Paul scores big wins in Hancock and Washington County but statewide count doesn’t top Romney

EAST MACHIAS, Maine — Texas Congressman Ron Paul was the top choice by a two-to-one margin in three presidential nominee preference polls conducted by registered Republican voters in Maine on Saturday as the state winds up its controversial GOP caucuses.

In Washington County’s supercaucus Paul attracted 163 votes to Mitt Romney’s 80, and in the town of Hancock in the county of the same name Paul received 41 votes to Romney’s 16. Paul also picked up four more votes in Clinton, which also caucused Saturday morning. Romney received two votes there.

Rick Santorum attracted 57 votes in Washington County and 16 votes in Hancock. Gingrich finished last in both caucuses with 4 votes in Washington County and 9 in Hancock.

Results are still outstanding for six towns in Hancock County that also caucused Saturday afternoon, and the town of Castine will caucus March 3.

Maine Senate President Kevin Raye, a Republican, said Friday that Washington County’s results would be included in the final tally for the poll, but that the Republican State Committee will have to vote at its March 10 meeting whether to include results from other towns that voluntarily chose to hold their caucuses after Feb. 11.

Thanks, NS and Calin for keeping us posted on this today. Too bad that Paul did not win but this is good press and as Calin points out, he should get more than half the delegates.

I hope that there's a lesson to be learned from today..

To all Ron Paul supporters, It's important to actually vote.
Thinking or talking about it is not enough..

Make the effort.. VOTE... VOTE... VOTE...

Well, even though the recount and inclusion of the other areas didn't put RP over the top, the whole damn thing did draw attention to the concerted effort against our man for President.

And it sounds like more information is coming out about Nevada and South Carolina and Iowa. This effort against Paul should be a major story. Rachel Maddow is using it to make the entire GOP look bad compared to Democrats, but her exposure is still benefiting Ron Paul, imo. RP is definitely NOT of the typical GOP.

I still feel like more and more crap is going to be uncovered and revealed throughout this year that it may be an entirely different world by election time, in terms of people's perceptions of what's really been going on behind their backs all their lives. Should be quite a spectacle.

The "beauty contest" is the ONLY thing the general public and the taking heads care about. Without wins there, it pushes him back even further in the realm of public opinion, and lowers his chances of winning in the future races. If we're in this to WIN, it needs to be more than mere delegates. A delegate-only win would seem, to most voters, as a betrayal (even though it IS officially how the party nominates).

Think of it this way, your state votes heavily for Romney, but most of the delegates go to Ron Paul at the convention. You'd feel a bit betrayed by your delegates and then loathe Ron Paul as if he cheated (which he didn't do). If he truly wants to change people's minds, an outright WIN must occur somewhere.

I'm all for the brokered convention, but knowing the dirty tricks the GOP has already pulled in this race, they will pull out ALL the stops in Tampa to keep him from winning. A few state victories would help quell that. Plus, a few 1st place wins in the "beauty contests" would shoot him to the front of the pack, and people would then truly consider him as a contender. Then he'd have no problem marching to an overwhelming nomination.
