Although I fundamentally disagree with blaming the victim , I do believe that at a certain point one must take control of their life and heal past abuses in order to move on. If blacks sit around and wait for whites to mend they're wicked ways they will be waiting for an eternity. It is up to them at this point to move foward, which many have. Of course. The problem historically has been unfortunately met with political assassinations of black leaders and activists. Many accuse Obama of being a leftist but if you really watch his policies he has repeatedly implemented the plans of the neocons since getting into office. I'd like to use the word: 'unbelievable' right now, but as it stands, this word is being overused to many degrees everywhere.

That word itself implies something else; as we've been so complacent as of late, and when spoken or written, it just carries just a 'sigh' or groan. Nothing spectacular.

Western society NEEDS to be 'more in touch' with their kids. We HAVE to make time with our children, and we NEED to see/meet their needs.

And most of all...

We need to sit down with them and tell them ALL about why we don't look/act like the next door neighbors...if anything.

Canada and the U.S. founded OUR countries upon diversity. There wasn't any media intervening (as such) back in the day when immigrants landed upon our shores; let alone 'family-by-family' daily/personal events that cropped up in the newspaper. We dealt with circumstances as they arose, and worked with things to come. People learned to deal with the 'everyday' nuances, and got on with their business.

Then why should it be any different today?

Why involve a 7 yr old, and what he said to another - innocent remark?

Is the media THAT desperate...NAY...the 'mother of the offended'...THAT DESPERATE, as to get their 15 mins of fame televised? And for what cause?

So that another child who is curious about why someone who lost a limb doesn't look like them might ask: "Did you lose your leg in a war?" (When in fact the leg was taken due to cancer)

Or another child asking someone: "Is your face scarred because it was burn't?" (not realizing that the other person had bad acne.)

To add: all those things that your sooo upset over black history month,BET, etc.. Is like giving a band aide for cancer. We live in a system built on institutionalized racism. Do you know that we base prison sizes for the future on 3rd grader test scores from low income communities. If we put a third of that money toward improving the schools we wouldn't need those prisons in the first place. But that is not what is in the cards and don't for a second believe that it is not intentional because it is. It's easy to sit on the outside and judge away. After all that is what the system wants.
