Its hoping that this plan will anger the british public into lobbying the government to provide the funds to keep ashcroft.

Had a look to see what the local papers had on this..
The one that covers the area of Ashchurch [link to www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk] showed up a story from Dec 2009..
"Jobs under threat at Tewkesbury MoD depot"
It says that 400 jobs would be lost if the storage there was moved to another area in the uk, Union leaders point out that "it could jeopardise troops in Afghanistan" as " All land-based vehicles go through the depot for maintenance"

So back in 2009 they wanted to close it, but now they want to move to Germany?
Could be that the troops are coming home so atm there's no need for the place, so maybe there is nothing in the pipeline for iran?
Than again the French are getting our War Ships! what next? maybe our Subs will go to Spain and our Aircraft to Italy.
