Some geologists argue the magnitude-9 quake 300 years ago was simply average and that the Northwest has been slammed by quakes twice as big in the distant past.

Tsunami Evacuation Phone Map Apps


Interactive maps of tsunami evacuation zones in both Oregon and Washington are now available online and as a smartphone app (TsunamiEvac-NW).
The Pacific Northwest Tsunami Evacuation Zones online portal and smartphone app provide an at-a-glance view of tsunami hazard zones along the coasts of Oregon and Washington. This tool was developed by the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) program. The online portal can be found on the web at: [link to nvs.nanoos.org] The maps have also been integrated into a free smartphone app, TsunamiEvac-NW, which allows users to see whether they are in a tsunami evacuation zone, and plan their own evacuation routes. This free app is available from the iTunes App Store and Android Market:

The coasts of Oregon, Washington, and Northern California are exposed to tsunamis from either distant earthquakes (such as the March 11, 2011, Tōhoku, Japan tsunami) or local earthquake events. The greatest risk to Northwest coastal communities is from very large locally generated tsunamis produced by an earthquake (magnitude 8-9+) occurring immediately offshore the Pacific Northwest coast on the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have mapped the zones that would be inundated by a tsunami. The collaborative effort between NANOOS, DOGAMI, and DNR will serve as an important tool in preparing for a potentially catastrophic tsunami event along the Pacific Northwest coast.

Both the interactive online portal and the smartphone app allow users to view whether their home, work place, school, etc., are in a tsunami evacuation zone. Visitors to the coast can use the app to learn about tsunami risks before or during their visit. To help users develop and plan their own evacuation routes, the Places feature of this tool allows users to pin-point a location by either entering an address or clicking on the map to see if that location is in a danger zone. Users can create multiple places with the feature and, if they log in with their myNANOOS account, those places will be saved automatically.


In addition to the maps, the portal and app provide information and resources of critical importance before, during, and following a tsunami event, including:
- Direct links to tsunami warnings issued by the NOAA West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center (WCTWC);
- Information links to WCATWC and the U.S. Geological Survey;
- The Markers feature that displays pre-set locations of schools, bridges, assembly areas, and various local government and emergency management buildings; and,
- Downloadable brochures produced by DOGAMI and DNR showing evacuation routes and links to local emergency agencies for many communities along the Washington and Oregon coasts.

Although infrequent, tsunamis are a major threat to both life and property on the Washington and Oregon coasts. Based on sediment deposits, Japanese harbor records and Pacific Northwest tribal oral histories, scientists have identified that the last mega-thrust earthquake (magnitude 8-9+) happened in 1700. Preparation for this type of event is necessary since scientists estimate that there is a 10% probability that the next earthquake will occur in the next 30 years.

Tsunamis that result from distant earthquakes, like the 1964 magnitude-9.2 Alaska earthquake or 2011 magnitude-9.0 Japan earthquake, can cause damage in the Pacific Northwest as well. When the tsunamis from both of these events reached the shores of Washington, Oregon, and Northern California, lives were lost and tens of millions of dollars’ worth of damage was created in several harbors and bays.

To minimize the loss of life and utilizing funding from NOAA’s National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program, the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) has embarked on a massive effort to map new tsunami inundation zones for the entire Oregon coast by mid 2014. DOGAMI scientists developed new earthquake source models in partnership with researchers at Oregon State University and the Geological Survey of Canada.

DOGAMI constructed 3D point clouds using improved bathymetry and high-resolution lidar ground surface elevation data so that numerical hydrodynamic modeling could be performed by the Center for Coastal Margin Observation and Prediction. Upon model completion, DOGAMI staff created two lidar-based tsunami inundation map plate templates to create the Tsunami Inundation Map Series. This map series will span the entire Oregon Coast when complete, and will provide multiple local- and distant-source tsunami inundation scenarios, wave elevation profiles, wave height time series data, and building exposure analysis results.

DOGAMI also manages a comprehensive community outreach program that works to increase earthquake and tsunami preparedness among coastal visitors and residents, to create a local and sustainable grass-roots outreach program, and to create new evacuation brochures in collaboration with county and city officials. This outreach program is also supported by the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development and Oregon Emergency Management. For more information visit: www.oregontsunami.org.

In addition to managing more than 5.6 million acres of state-owned lands and serving as the state’s wildland fire department, the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) houses the Washington State Geologist. The department regulates surface mining reclamation and provides technical assistance to citizens, industry and government on geologic hazards, forest stewardship, and other issues.

Tsunami modeling was performed by NOAA’s Center for Tsunami Research. Inundation mapping was undertaken by staff from the Washington Department of Natural Resources. the ring of fire on the 188 day earthquake pattern!!

I guess if you go by simple math and add the days between the last 188 day pattern on September 15, 2011--we have to say YES!!
You of course do not start the count on September 15, 2011 of the Fiji 7.3 Major Earthquake where the last Major Earthquake happened!
You begin the count on September 16, 2011---188 days later is March 21, 2012!!!

We are still one day off!!

Simple: We know from the Mexico earthquake on March 20, 2012 that it was originally an 8.1 or something close to that number!
They did finally downgrade it to a 7.4 after several 7+ earthquake aftershocks!
This Major earthquake happened during the evening around 10:00 P.M. or during that hour!!

That means it was only 2 hours short of the next day which would have been March 21, 2012!!

You all know that the time zones would easily have this Major Earthquake on the calendar for March 21, 2012--just depending on where you lived in the world!

Also if it were not for the Leap Year day of February 29, 2012 that would have made the Mexico Major earthquake happen one day sooner!! Afterall the last two years with the other 4 Major and Mega Earthquakes there was no added leap year day to the calendar!!!

But it remains a true fact that the Major Earthquake near Mexico City on the eve of March 21, 2012 was as close to the 188 day pattern as could have possibly been centered!!

The reason why there was not much news coverage on this Major Earthquake is because there was a miracle involved! No loss of live and there was just minimium damage to buildings! Thank the Lord for this miracle!

Today on this March 23, 2012 there is still a 24 hour Earthquake alert for the Southern Part of California as it relates to the possibility of tatonic plate slippage that might occur whenever a large earthquake takes place in that area of the country!

We pray that nothing will become of this alert and it will be just a time to prepare for any disaster no matter what form it might take!!!

I am sure relieved that this 188 day pattern is almost over for a while!!

To tell you the truth I felt a big responsibility on my shoulders; I was contemplating many times the idea that maybe I should have warned more people about this possible event!!

But it all comes down to this simple conclusion-- God controls the elements!!! When the earth moves God is the author behind every tetonic movement! They do not move unless given the command by God's angels on those four corners!

The folks on other websites that were taking this 188 day pattern down to the wire were mostly overlooking one overall blinding fact---the earthquakes falling on this 188 day pattern were not what this 188 day pattern was all about!!

This is not about the Major or Mega Earthquakes!!!!

We are trying to determine by these earth movements whenever the Earth---Sun--and whatever is in the Leo constellation triggering these seismic events; when all three of these come into alignment, every 188 days or 6 months; if indeed there is some unusual object triggering this pattern!!

It's not the earthquakes we should concentrate on--it's what is producing this pattern every 188 days!!

That is what most folks are leaving out of the equation!! Until we understand the reason for all these Solar Flares and Volcanoes erupting and heat waves early in the year; then we most likely will have to wake up one day to the reality that maybe we had the wool pulled over our eyes by those who wanted us to remain in the dark!!!

But I am content to let this mystery go back down in the coffin until we get some sudden breaking news which may or may not bring our sleeping zombie 188 day pattern back up from it resting place!!

The reason I’m making this short post is to again reiterate how abnormal the earthquake activity has been for the North American Continent. Earlier today I noted there was another 4.1 Magnitude Quake in the area of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and I brought it to the attention of my eldest twin who stated: “Dad, ever since you brought this to our attention, we have noticed there have been quite a few 4-5.0 quakes in that zone, so what’s the big deal? There appears to be regular activity in that zone so why are you harping on what is obvious?”

This is where the problem lies; for the past several decades, if not for almost three hundred (300) years, the Cascadia Subduction Zone has, for all practical purposes, been close to dormant and it appears for the past few decades the tectonic plates have been firmly “locked.” When we wrote “Volcanic Activity Appears To Be Working It’s Way Around The “Ring of Fire” in January of 2008, we based this prediction on years of research and a firm belief that “Earthquake Patterns” are real albeit extremely difficult to interpret. We now believe that our hypothesis has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt as evidenced by the re-awakening of the Cascadia Subduction Zone within such a short amount of time (geologically speaking) of our prediction and rationale for said activity. (Please see “Increase Of Earthquakes And Volcanic Activity Are Caused By Climate Change.”)

For those of you whom do not follow earthquake data and do not live on the West Coast of the United States, 4.0 to 5.0 Magnitude Earthquakes ARE NOT commonplace within the Cascadia Subduction Zone. (In fact, there have been very few quakes, even of the 3.0+ variety since the Tectonic Plates have remained locked after the last major event in 1700, notwithstanding severe aftershocks that could have lasted for decades after the event in 1700.) The last Mega-Thrust Earthquake to strike the Cascadia Subduction Zone “was a magnitude 8.7 to 9.2 megathrust earthquake that occurred in the Cascadia subduction zone on January 26, 1700.[1] The earthquake involved the Juan de Fuca Plate underlying the Pacific Ocean, from mid-Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, south along the Pacific Northwest coast as far as northern California, USA. The length of the fault rupture was about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) with an average slip of 20 meters (22 yards). The earthquake caused a tsunami that struck the coast of Japan,[2] and may also be linked to the Bonneville Slide.[3]“ LINK

Furthermore, there has been significant activity on the San Andreas Fault that encompasses the Northern and Southern segments of the fault and it is not impossible for this fault to experience a “Super Shear Earthquake” that could involve the entire San Andreas Fault Zone, not to mention the negative effects on other faults that run throughout Southern California which could also rupture with the right type of stimulus.

The danger to North America’s West Coast is growing by the day and here at ThePoliticalBandit.com we have to ask ourselves why the U.S.G.S. has not issued a warning to West Coast residents that the Cascadia Subduction Zone is now entering an extremely active period that may or may not result in another Mega-Thrust Earthquake that has the potential to kill tens of thousands of people throughout the West Coast and the subsequent deaths which would naturally result from the ensuing Tsunami that will occur if a Mega-thrust Earthquake strikes along the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

Throughout the United States and the entire global community we are witnessing an increase in magnitude and frequency of geological events and the time is ripe for disaster to strike the United States; our luck can only hold for so long, and by all accounts, there are several extremely dangerous fault zones in our nation that are overdue to rupture, yet with earthquakes appearing in Colorado, Oklahoma, and in other strange areas of the nation the U.S.G.S. has issued no warnings nor advised, on a massive scale, that American’s begin preparing themselves for a potential disaster based on geological dangers that are screaming for national recognition. We believe that in consideration of the current evidence that the Cascadia Subduction Zone has reawakened, the government is attempting to avert any type of announcement that could harm our economy or create panic by attempting to inform a public that has little patience for false alarms – even when made in an attempt to mitigate damage and save lives.

Unfortunately, I have more to write but must quit for tonight so we can attend to my Sister. Preparing your family for a disaster is never fun nor necessarily inexpensive. Whereas you may spend a few hundred dollars in Disaster Preparedness products today that might hurt the budget in the short-term, it has to be better than waking-up and being the one that has to tell the rest of your family that they may not eat for the foreseeable future, and when it comes to survival, it is the prepared that will stand the best chance of surviving any disaster, whether financial, political, or those wrought upon us by nature.
