I've seen it several times at my workplace when the rescue services have responded to an automated gas-leak alarm. They've always been false alarms, but every time the firemen arrived wearing rubber suits and full face masks. When I was young, I worked for a really small town. We used chlorine gas to inject into the water supply. My boss popped the regulator off to change out a tank. ONE breath, put him in the hospital for 3 days. The cop should have looked at the tank. Sorry to see this happen, he was trying to save a life, and gave his instead. I love physics. It bonds us eternally, it's what makes our computers work, it's what's in my morning cup of coffee, it's the thing that keeps the universe from vanishing due to lack of belief... |

Nasty stuff wants to combine with water, any water including in your lungs, mouth, eyes, and skin. It's far more concentrated than any household cleaner. Won't quickly kill you from gaseous contact with skin, but certainly will if inhaled. |
