SyFy channel sucks now | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 20342390 United States 07/23/2012 03:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Talk about declines, what about the 'History Channel'. There's no history on it anymore. It's all 'Pawn Star' marathons an alligator hunting. WTF???? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20096532 I call the History Channel the UFO Hitler Channel because a few years back all it was was UFO and Hitler documentaries. I called it the War channel because originally it was just one war documentary after another, WWI, WWII, etc. all the different battles, each its own documentary, mostly old ones in black & white. I hated that channel then. The channel was awesome then, it sucks now. All they show is all that Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars and other such crap. Maybe History Channel should follow the SyFy channel's recipe and make shows like Ice Road Pawn, Life After Ice Road Trucking, Ice Road Apocalypse, Ice Road Presidents, Brad Meltzer's Ice Road Decoded, 101 Gadgets That Changed Ice Road Trucking, and the sure to be everyone's favorite, Ice Road Vietnam. Ah, hell, they should just change the name of the channel to Ice Road History. Ice Road Apocalypse, wasn't that a movie that SyFy already did? |

In order for that to happen, the channel needs return to its roots and put in some quality science fiction programming. By sci-fi programming I do not mean countless reruns of Stargate SG1 either. That's what made people stop watching in the first place. Put in some X-Files, Twilight Zone (original series), movies like Total Recall, and mini-series like Lost Room. Then you'll be on your way. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19168269 Or how about some "Dr. Who" ? And get rid of the stupid wrestling (or "rassling" as we used to call it). There are plenty of other channels which have wrestling! And those silly "reality"-type shows like Ghost Hunter which are shot in black-and-white and have "OMG" and pseudo-surprised screams as their main dialogue. If you're looking for re-runs, how about "The Magician" (starring Bill Bixby), "In Search Of...", or "Ray Bradbury Theater"? Even the old "Buck Rogers" and "Battlestar Galactica" (with Lorne Greene) have more interesting plots than the current shows. "Eureka" started out really good, and then got into the goofy "timeline/parallel universe" theme. If you want to do something "campy", how about "Mystery Science Theatre" where they take old groaner movies and dissect them with smart-ass remarks? "I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12 |

When I was a little kid I used to watch them on USA Network on Saturday afternoon. MST would also be cool. The whole wrestling thing is beyond stupid. I'm not sure whose cock Vince McMahon sucked to get SyFy to run WWE on its channel. How about Knight Rider (original), The Incredible Hulk series, or even The Six Million Dollar Man? |

The more interactive they made the experience, the mpore they would see what we like, and want. For series, they could air eps 1 & 2 as a teaser, or if they did have a pilot ep, that. I would 110% sit through a marathon of that. If they were really smart they would get merchandising sorted prior, at least from a planning stage, and supplier stage, and do just in time, or manufacture to order. Imagine being able to buy original Hulk, 6 Million Dollar Man, Blake's 7, U.F.O. or Shado T-shirts etc? We're the tards who stay up to 1am in order to watch a show bumped from 9pm slot to 10pm, to 11pm etc. We are sci-fi tragics and a market not really well tapped in to. |

I have a whole new take on Gillian Anderson after seeing how many guys she's lived with in real life and how many kids she's had out-of-wedlock. That's her business, but I'd watch with an entirely new take on "Scully". As far as the crappy "SyFy Original Production" movies, they probably write off three times what the movie actually cost for tax purposes. You can't do that if you just pay rights to broadcast old serials or the great 50's sci-fi movies. |
