Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
“We are concerned with the lack of transparency from our public officials on this emergency situation,” John Achee, Jr., a Bayou Corne community advocate, said. “There is no citizen representation on the incident command team or community liaison to help communicate real-time with both existing and displaced residents. Additionally, we have learned that an esteemed and well-regarded Louisiana scientist has been blocked access to the team meetings.”

Does anyone know who the blocked scientist might be?

Hi Paa Tal

I believe he might be talking about Dr Wilma Subra.

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
After Unified Command officials refused a request from residents, some living only 2,000 feet from the sinkhole disaster, to attend their Emergency Town Hall Meeting, Assumption Parish officials contacted the media and other officials to urge them to shun the meeting, according to a local community advocate and organizer.

"Assumption Parish Officials are calling the media, officals, agencies and Texas Brine in an attempt to discourage them all from attending the the Town Hall Meeting [that] you have pleaded with them to attend and provide you an inperson update on this most dangerous, dynamic, fluid situation," Achee advised sinkhole vicinity residents Wednesday.

I'm sure when they reach the cavern everything will be fine, I'm just not sure they'll find anything they don't already know out, IE the dome has failed, we know that. It will be a shock if they find gas in there as it was not storing gas.

Morning Fly over!

We’ve received notification just minutes ago that the bit on the snubbing rig has to be changed. This will push back drilling operations 12-15 hours.

Look at the trees around the drill site in the video. They're all turning white and dying. I don't think the drill site is 'that' close to the original sinkhole.

If we've got the same kind of tree damage at some distance from the sinkhole, whatever's FUBARed under there is HUGE and OMG, something bad's getting ready to happen.

Reminds me of what happened when they accidentally drilled into the salt dome under Lake Peigneur.

OMG!!

Grand Gulf Energy (ASX: GGE) and its partners are preparing to spud the Desiree prospect in Louisiana targeting 1 million barrels of oil in early October.

The Desiree well is updip from and just 270 feet away from the largest producer in the Napoleonville project, which produced 2.3 million barrels and was still producing 100 barrels per day when it was abandoned at low oil prices with split casing.

from yesterday:

Drilling has entered the cavern and no gas was encountered. They will drill down 80 additional feet to make sure there are no obstructions and then back out to the cavern’s top to begin wire line surveying, which will take place for the next 48 hours.

950 psi
and also liquid hydrocarbons (they think that's what they are)
testing is being done

how big is that cavern?
and since they breached the top does it mean the cavern is full of gas?
and with the gas bubbling up everywhere in the area, then
WTF!!!!
sounds like it has been down there building up for quite some time
hard to say what kind of condition that dome is in
and the caverns within

if you google an image of a saltdome in Louisianna, you will see that any old salt dome seeems to reach up from the botton of the earth. at random along each side of the salt dome are pockets of gas and oil. factor this into the equasion.

It is nowhere near time for leaves to turn yellow and fall off down in Louisiana. They aren't even starting to turn colors here in Oklahoma yet.

Those trees in that video are DEAD.

so again i wonder how far out under the GOM do connections to this salt dome go??????

all the missing methane gas from the BP rupture went somewhere!

it was the presence of the salt deposits around the BP well site that made the site so unstable.

Assumption Parish officials have been advised by DNR that their exploratory well observers have confirmed that brine cavern #3 has failed. Per Texas Brine’s press release, “The tool used to measure cavern depth bottomed out at approximately 4,000 feet – a point estimated to be 1,300 feet higher than the floor had been measured prior to the cavern closure in 2011. This preliminary finding indicates that some type of dense material has fallen to the bottom of the cavern. A sample of the material has been retrieved from the cavern floor and will be analyzed. The retrieved material does not appear to be consistent with material normally found in brine cavern operations. We expect that the sonar inspection that is currently being conducted will provide a more detailed image of the cavern’s interior conditions and the possible source of the material at its base.” This statement confirms the suspicions of parish officials: Texas Brine Oxy Cavern #3 had failed.

It has come to our attention that Texas Brine’s press release was released to the media at 10:31 p.m. last night, prior to consulting with parish and state officials. Parish officials are not in agreement with Texas Brine’s preliminary conclusion that their well was damaged by “regional-scale seismic activity” (earthquakes). Given the confirmation of the failure of Texas Brine’s cavern, the parish will continue to look to Texas Brine for accountability and evacuee assistance.

The mandatory evacuation order will remain in place. Parish and state officials are working together to host and coordinate a public meeting to provide additional and updated information in the near future. The time and date of this meeting will be circulated via blog posts, press release, and phone calls to residents. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness at 985-369-7386 or stop by the command post.
