Barak approves increase in call-up of IDF reservistsDefense Minister Ehud Barak approved IDF request on Friday to increase the amount of reservists enlisted over the ongoing escalation in the South.

The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the IDF request to enlist 30,000 reservists on Thursday.

16,00 reservists were already called-up for duty on Friday.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak expanded on Friday the call-up of reserve soldiers, a spokesman said, as Israel pushed ahead with a major offensive against terrorists in Gaza.

"The defense minister has this evening ordered the mobilization of new reserve forces," Josh Hantman told AFP shortly after a rocket fired from Gaza hit the city of Gush Etzion near Jerusalem and another landed in the sea by central Tel Aviv.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the IDF's request on Friday evening to increase the amount of reservists enlisted as Operation Pillar of Defense ended its third day, beyond the 30,000 already approved.

On Friday morning, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz issued draft orders for 16,000 reservists. Most of the reservists serve in the IDF's Engineering Corps.



THESE ARE ORDER NINE call-ups meaning immediate. So the others are not engineers then.

we all knew this was coming folks so suprise shouldn't be that much to any of us, doesn't it make it any easier to digest I must admit though. Hope and praying for the best, hopefully Israel finishes it this time.

Nuclear reprocessing technology was developed to chemically separate and recover fissionable plutonium from irradiated nuclear fuel.[1] Reprocessing serves multiple purposes, whose relative importance has changed over time. Originally reprocessing was used solely to extract plutonium for producing nuclear weapons. With the commercialization of nuclear power, the reprocessed plutonium was recycled back into MOX nuclear fuel for thermal reactors.[2] The reprocessed uranium, which constitutes the bulk of the spent fuel material, can in principle also be re-used as fuel, but that is only economic when uranium prices are high. Finally, a breeder reactor can employ not only the recycled plutonium and uranium in spent fuel, but all the actinides, closing the nuclear fuel cycle and potentially multiplying the energy extracted from natural uranium by about 60 times.[3][4]

Nuclear reprocessing reduces the volume of high-level waste, but by itself does not reduce radioactivity or heat generation and therefore does not eliminate the need for a geological waste repository. Reprocessing has been politically controversial because of the potential to contribute to nuclear proliferation, the potential vulnerability to nuclear terrorism, the political challenges of repository siting (a problem that applies equally to direct disposal of spent fuel), and because of its high cost compared to the once-through fuel cycle.[5] In the United States, the Obama administration stepped back from President Bush's plans for commercial-scale reprocessing and reverted to a program focused on reprocessing-related scientific research.[6] Nuclear fuel reprocessing is performed routinely in Europe, Russia and Japan.

Signs of an approaching full-scale war increased Friday afternoon, Nov. 16. The IDF obtained government approval to call up reserves in addition to the 30,000 already approved. Hospitals across the country were placed on emergency footing and patients not needing urgent treatment were sent home. The security cabinet meets urgently after 550 Palestinian rockets fired in three days. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv were targeted Friday by Hamas which reported firing two “homemade M-75” missiles each at Israel’s capital and commercial hub. There were no casualties in either town.[/b]The Jerusalem siren was heard in outlying towns Mevaseret Zion, Motza Ilit, Beitar Ilit, Kibbutz Maaleh Hahamisha, Ora and Har Adar.
Israeli ground forces continue to stand by on the Gaza border awaiting government orders to go in.

Abbas calls for unity with Hamas over Gaza operation

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday called for unity among rival Palestinian factions in light of Operation Pillar of Defense, but noted he has not been able to get in touch with Hamas leaders in Gaza.

Describing the Israeli military operation as an attack on all Palestinians and not only Hamas, Abbas said now is the time for Palestinian reconciliation.




Abbas thinks this is the time to re-unite, but he does not wish to suffer the same fate as Hamas in Gaza, however, the Hamas faction in West Bank may wish to suffer the same fate.

It certainly looks as if this is quickly headed to a worst case scenario.

Add in the oil rig explosion/fire in the gulf of Mexico and the lowlifes talking about riots if the EBT system isn't back up soon and the home-front situation is looking worse as well.

Reports are from residents; I've seen fireworks from Arabs to worst case scenario as explanation, no more info yet.
