The 5,725-foot San Cristobal volcano, which sits around 95 miles north of the capital Managua in the country's northwest, has been active in recent years, and stirred in mid-2008, when it expelled gas and rumbled with a series of small eruptions. Interesting article here...seems the locals have been getting a few warning signs since the earthquake that things are not well with several of the local volcanoes.. No actual venting, but numerous volcanic tremors that usually indicate movement of magma. I don't think it's quite the level of the alerts in your link, but something they are watching. Of note is the fact that Apoyeque last erupted about 50 BC! TANSTAAFL - There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch |

MT St.Helens is smoking I hear and there is a massive volcano in Japan causing mega worries. We have sinkholes and tornadoes in New York. Large pre-cursor Earthquakes every hour or so now. Not good if they're awoken. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23412260 Yes...its almost as though the whole ring of fire is gearing u p to come to life! Those high VEI are the scary ones... I read an interesting article this morning that spoke of how scientists have discovered that before the dinosaurs were wiped out there were mass oceanic Extinctions...caused by huge volcanic eruptions... that went on for about 100,000 years!!!
