Former astronaut Ockels about Aliens and the illusion of time.

Prof. dr. Wubbo J. Ockels is a Dutch physicist, and also the Netherlands' original astronaut. He is a Professor of Aerospace Sustainable Engineering and Technology at the University of Delft, and tries to stimulate a mentality change among Dutch citizens.

In his mind-bending TEDxAmsterdam talk, Ockels explains how ‘time’ is created by human beings, as a way our brains can make sense of gravity. The speed of light is constant, because it is made by us: it’s the clock by which we have calibrated our existence. Based on this premise, Ockels proposes a new way to explore life in our galaxy.

It's not constant because we "made up the idea of time", what we percieve as constant is simply a variable based on our perception of time.

the speed at which light travel a certain distance would be the same, percieved by an alien race or us, perhaps meassured differently, but it would still be constant.

I'm no scientist. And I lack any formal training to fall back on. So, I'm not trying to say that I know anything.....

But, when I meditate, especially when I am in very deep meditation, when I am finished, it feels as if 7 or 8 hours has passed - even if it has only been 30 minutes.

I'll jerk back into the left brain and think, "Oh, my gosh! I've been gone all day!" Then I'll look at the clock and see that only 30 minutes has passed.

My understanding of meditation may be flawed. But it seems to me to be a function of the right brain. It has always had me wondering of "time" is a function of the left brain.
