Lost N Dying World (OP) User ID: 23435350 United States 10/04/2012 06:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i cant stand how people pronounce New Madrid.. Quoting: Matrix-V I always will pronounce it like the city in Spain... ma-drid ... not mad-drid sheesh I just laugh when I heard them pronounce it. I've lived on the New Madrid Fault in S.E. Mo, for just shy of 50 years. I've felt it rumble sometimes daily. Always small quakes, but I also fear and respect its potential. There are sand boils scattered all over this area of S.E. Missouri where liquidfaction occured, and also where sand erupted as geysers. I trail ride (4 wheelers) along the banks of the Mississippi River, and you can still find trees with their root balls 4-5 feet above the soil. Mother earth has it's own agenda, and will only allow mankind to tamper with that process to a certain extent. I think we've reached that point. Keep up the good work op. Your not far from me if you live in New Madrid |

Fracking does contaminate groundwater plus it releases Methane. Most scientists have long maintained it was highly unlikely that chemicals pumped into the ground for fracking gas could move all the way up through bedrock and into the water table. But that appears to be exactly what has happened underneath Pavilion, Wyoming, population 213. Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency announced new USGS test results were consistent with its December tests that fracking likely contaminated groundwater there. detection of synthetic chemicals, like glycols and alcohols consistent with gas production and hydraulic fracturing fluids, benzene concentrations well above Safe Drinking Water Act standards and high methane levels. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1342532 United States 10/05/2012 12:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good Morning GLP Quoting: Lost N Dying World I have now found out that Texas Brine LLC maybe responsible for the sinkhole but they say it was and earthquake that caused it. Texas Brine Co., the company that owns the brine cavern believed to be responsible for a growing sinkhole in Assumption Parish, said Thursday it will begin compensating families in the evacuation zone. [link to thesinkhole.org] Teas-brine owns the cavern. Occidental-gesmer owned the area before, and the waste in the waste well at the SE edge is from occidental. @ of the chemicals found in testing of tex-brine sites earlier in summer are chemicals made ob occidental. As for earthquakes. The salt dome is heavily drilled according to what I have read ( for gas/oil). Vibroseis machine (vibration -rf frequency or electromagnet frequency ) or dynamite are typical methods used to create vibration for sensing and drilling. This is a form of fracking. Fracking causes earthquakes and instability and cracks in which substances can migrate. Many waste wells there and in surrounding areas to affect gulf and NMSZ. To the OP- I will post some links tomorrow if they haven't been posted yet in this thread. Grand Gulf (I think) and associate companies , australian based says it has around 30,000 acres and uses reflective seismology. Although their literature says Napoleonville salt dome, I'm not sure how many acres are in a 1 by 3 mile area off the top of my head. There is not one sinkhole that could afffect NM. There is a region. |

I Ban Thee User ID: 21926529 United States 10/05/2012 01:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There has been so much talk about the govt getting ready for something big, preparing for unrest, Martial law etc. What if they are planning to blow this sinkhole, or even if they caused it with tunnel drilling in hopes to start a major nation changing quake. It blows, and a major quake takes place up and down the fault. It would effect countless nearby nuclear and non nuclear power plants all along the rivers there. It could destroy the strategic oil reserves that are stock piled just north of there. The power grid would drop from the loss of all the plants into the system much like the north east black out in 03? and the country would essentially be cut in half with regards to frieght etc.. You want a major incident, that requires martial law because of civil unrest etc. There you have it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18427787 Way far fetched but hey, why not. They wouldn't have to go to all that trouble. "They" could just declare a financial bank crisis or... simply turn off the lights, or... how about a bigger 9/11? They can pull the plug at any time. Be prepared. |
