Can anyone identify this Beautiful Orange Mushroom in SC?
Earlier today I found this very unique mushroom in my field. I have never seen one like this in SC. I typed in Orange Mushroom and it showed me a picture of the Caesar's Mushroom. Wikipedia says it has not been found in the US. It also is said to grow in oak woodlands. I had a strange feeling this mushroom was a new variety that has crossed countries. If it is the Caesar's Mushroom then what caused it to grow in SC?

Here is some pics I took on my Photobucket account. I also attached a Wiki link.

Peace

Wikipedia claims it is a highly regarded edible mushroom and favored by the Romans.

"Amanita caesarea, commonly known in English as Caesar's Mushroom, is a highly regarded edible mushroom in the genus Amanita, native to southern Europe and North Africa."

I don't plan on eating it.

Peace

It looks like a varient of the Amanita Musciaria mushroom, Only with out the white pebbles on the ring. This mushrooms usually grow in areas with pine.

This is a deadly mushroom, dont try to get high :)

I noticed that one you mentioned along with the others mentioned in the Wiki link. They all have orange color but slight differences. I don't plan on eating it, although if it is Amanita Caesarea then it is edible.

This is not the only foreign looking mushroom I have found this year. I also found some big brown muffin looking mushrooms. I try to pay attention to the types of flora and noticed these were new too me.

Peace

I recommend you eat just a little bit. If it's ceasarea you'll be fine, if it's muscaria a little won't be fatal, but will make itself known. Get someone to video you after you eat it, might be fun!

I found this link for the American Caesars mushroom or Amanita jacksonii. Wiki never mentions it in the US.
