As a result, wholesale prices have jumped nearly 73 cents a gallon over the last week. Experts predict that stations are about to pass on that cost to California drivers this week, and there's nothing drivers can do about it. According to fuel analysts, we could see a jump of 10 to 30 cents a gallon in a matter of days. What's causing this price spike? The problem is low production blamed on several oil refinery outages due to the extreme heat and continuing problems from an oil refinery fire in Northern California this summer. californa doom only! Bet you outa state peeps are lovin it [link to abclocal.go.com] stop the insanity of locality blending, and they could truck in all the gas they need. THANK GOVERNMENT FOR THIS MESS, YET AGAIN!! |

California needs lower oil prices and this will hurt our economy so it is an emergency. In California we drive alot and need reasonably priced fuel. Is FEMA working on this ? Yes, it will have to release pressure and most likely will blow right back into the negative thinker's lives. What you put out there, you get it back in spades. NOW, Have a nice day = GFY. GFY = Go Fuck Yourself. If this offends you then have a nice day. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19986152 Sorta, in days no. Weeks maybe, months yes. If this effects the rest of the US in days were definetly screwed. More empty freeways, more empty streets, less people going out. Could get ugly after a few days though...i said could. I think this is a dry run for SHTF scenario. What happens here could be a trend for the rest of nation. |

MarkinAZ User ID: 20006444 United States 10/05/2012 12:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 9 PM / Thursday evening. Just spoke to an ex-spouse who lives in Lake Elsinore and was down in Oceanside babysitting her granddaughters for the past four days. No problem getting gas on the way down Monday. Today, she looked for a place in Oceanside to fill up anticipating going back up to Lake Elsinore tomorrow. She finally found gas at one of the inland Shell stations many miles east/ inland from the beaches and the 404/5/freeways corridors. But she paid $4.35 for regular. Costco in Oceanside says they still have gas but don't know for how long. She drove inland rather than standing in line at Costco for a 'maybe' supply. She's thinking seriously about staying in Oceanside with our son vs driving home only to come back on Monday evening. Might be a great weekend to go shopping for a BMW Diesel 3 series or even a Chevy Volt! At least you can finance them for practically nothing in terms of interest rate and the fuel savings at $4/5 per gallon may soon offset the cost of the increased car payment. |

That is exactly right. The funny thing is, the federal government is on vacation right now so there is absolutely nothing they can do to address the issue (not like they would). California's government did this to themselves, you reap what you sow and a long list of ridiculous energy regulations will give you super-high gas costs. Just pray that the local blends of gas are a thing of the past by next year, because gas will be 3X as much with the shortage of corn. |
