What do you think is happening now? Do you feel like no one is stealing your money from you? If so, then I am happy that you are able to live in la-la-land. well, at least i don't have total mush for brains, like you obviously do. Can't even answer a question. Einstein is being proven wrong on many points these days, you might want to change that moniker. |

You will need to know what overhead is, and what a profit margin is to understand it. Better get a dictionary. You're so funny! I love the fact that you try and do psyops on people but it's like playground level abilities. You're cute :) Do you know what the profit margin is on a gallon of milk? Do you know what the profit margin is on a gallon of water? Compare that to the profit margin of a gallon of gas. I predict you will not answer my questions honestly because the truth conflicts with your world view. And i'm not just cute, i'm damned cute. Profit margin for whom? Farmer makes about $1.00/gallon according to the people I know who run dairies and according to most market research. Now...different farmers have different qualities of milk and some may receive a little more or a little less. Since the average gallon of milk here is about $2.75 / gallon that leaves $1.75 per gallon. So...split that between the producer who pasteurizes/homogonizes and adds or removes products to the milk, the delivery company if separate, the wholesale marketer who buys large milk purchases and then sells to smaller stores, and to the actual stores who carry the milk for you to buy. That's not a lot of profit. I know from experience, a good milk producing cow costs about $3,500.00 a year to maintain. That doesn't include the costs it takes to run a dairy, pass inspections, pay for water, pay for cleaning, pay for milking machines, etc. In reality...nobody's making a lot of money here. Thanks for letting me prove that. Oh...and btw, if you're dumb enough to pay $4.00 or more per gallon because of the specific retail chain you buy from...that's your own fault. |

First up, converting your Liters (the French metric system you were FORCED to adopt) should be done into U.S. gallons not the quite a bit larger Imperial gallon as was standard in the UK when I was a lad. Please try to understand that the UK is TINY! A lot of people in the USA 'HAVE' to drive 75-100 miles round trip every day to go to work and back, their are no viable bus or train alternatives outside of major cities and a lot of people need to move tools and materials, you can not get on a bus with 1000lbs of lumber to build a barn on a distant mountain! In the USA, to survive, you need your own wheels. England is about the same size as Americas smallest state,Vermont. It takes about 2 days to drive across Texas on highway 10 if you stop to sleep and eat,(I'm sure many truckers do it faster but for regular people it is quite a voyage). Try to understand that moving a truck load of Veggies 1000 miles can not be done in a Mini Cooper. 3 or 4 England's would fit inside the State of Texas alone. When all is aid and done,we pay as much of our income,or more, by necessity, than the Brits,or Europeans, it is not a choice if you want to eat and have a roof over your head. |

There is no "sudden" cost to the producers, suppliers, distributors, sellers, etc... This is price gouging. Plain and simple... And having drove a Peterbilt for 10 years before I went back to a easier job... I am still very well tied into the industry. There is NO WAY, NONE to make a living with fuel at $6.00/ gallon. And to the goober who attacked me... Guys in Africa cut holes in oil pipelines, scoop up the crude and place it in a drum... they then heat this drum until the crude boils, etc, etc... When I lived in La Jolla in 2010 gas was always $5/gal for Primium. It's still $5/gal. The price there never changes, but you can drive few miles to Pacific Beach and get normal Cali prices. La Jolla just has rich people that don't want to leave the village with their million dollar sports cars. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14245030 United States 10/05/2012 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Diesel in California has been more expensive than regular gas ever since the whole sulfur content bullshit. Now we have to get a special mix of fuel for both diesel and regular gas that no one in the nation uses. The funny thing is, all the crude oil flows to California to be refined and sold to other states. So there is no shortage per-say, just the shortage of the special California fuel. If the state doesn't do something about this and still doesn't allow selling regular fuel in California to meet demand, it's going to be a disaster. |
