Why would wages go up. A company is ALWAYS going to pay as little as possible. Corporations are making record profits, they want to get rid of the minimum wage.

In Jan 2006, I sent 22 people to Drug/screen, background check for a contract I was paying $20 an hour on. Out of those 22, only TWO passed the Drug Screen/Background check, and only ONE of those actually showed up to work.

Now, I can put an ad on Craig's List for $8.75 an hour, and have 100 applications on my desk to choose from, within 4 hours.

Right now only the high risk pools, medical loss ratio rule, children not being denids due to preexisting conditions and the medicare donut hole are the only parts of the law that are in place now.

And of course the massive crack down on Medicare and Medicaid fraud that this week led to several arrest and exposure of more than $431 million dollars in fraud.

Dudes, don't bother to actualy research what the law is doing now as opposed to when it is fully implemented in 2014!

Many companies in Canada only allow there workers to work 38 hours a week (still part time), not 40-44+, to avoid paying them benefits and other things.

Meanwhile managers and supervisors are put on salary, otherwise they'd be getting paid to much overtime.

I worked in about 15 different restaurants over the course of many years and the only people who get over 20-25 hours a week are the managers and some of the cooks. The servers, bussers, and hosts (read: majority of the staff) are part-time. Working 40 hours a week as any of those positions is an impossibility for anything more than a few months.
