Monsanto's "Roundup Ready"- Supreme Court to Rule on Patents for Self-Replicating Products
[link to www.wired.com]

Imagine a licensing agreement for buying seeds that allows them to be used only once a season. They cannot be resold for planting, and cannot be used for research, crop breeding or seed production.

Those indeed are the terms of seed giant Monsanto’s licensing agreement for its “Roundup Ready” soybeans, regardless of how unnatural the conditions may seem when it comes to farming. This is farming in the age of patented, genetically modified organisms, which in this case concerns soybean crops that withstand herbicide.

Come on SCOTUS. We already know you're gonna vote in Monsanto's favor so simply do it already and stop the phony show.

its all about money and bank accounts. like a mule these seeds cant reproduce. Think what would happen if they got out and mixed with natures seeds. Monsanto would hold the worlds food supply.

It produces a sterile product that can't be reseeded anyway. All GMO plants are supposed to be sterile. That is why we will be starving when the economy crashes. There are few non-GMO seeds available. If all the heritage seeds were planted we still couldn't feed everyone in America. Without any food to export, the rest of the world is screwed! Farmers will not be able to buy Monsanto's poison, and won't be able to reseed from their own stock.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

And what happens when Monsanto seed -- that cannot reproduce -- mixes with regular seed that can reproduce? You guessed it...Monsanto seed is designed to be more dominant so it will KILL OUT REGULAR SEED and there won't be seeds anywhere for any crops. End of story.

I thought that Monsanto were genetically engineering seeds so the resulting plants weren't capable of producing seed for further crops?

Good! Maybe some of those farmers will buy natural, unmolested seeds for a change.
