But what isn't so obvious is that the quality of food has gone down a lot. The quality of the produce in an average chain grocery store is terrible, compared to a decade ago. So you are paying more for less. So what I notice is that I have to go out of my way to find food that's really good quality. Even when certain produce is in season, you still can't get very good quality in average grocery stores, because the distribution chains have gotten so efficient at feeding quality food to higher paying customers and funneling the remainder to budget-conscious shoppers. To get really top quality food nowadays, you have to go to an upscale shore like Whole Foods and pay REALLY a lot more. Or you have to go to farmer's markets, food co-ops and etc. |

People with foodstamps don't care how much something costs. Quoting: Renegade (Me too) Buy, buy, buy! That's completely illogical and more of the typical ignorant blame game. Majority of tax dollars go towards anything but social service programs. Additionally the amount of food stamps is VERY low per person if a person can even qualify. The great depression and stock market crashes took place MANY years before food-stamps had even been thought of yet bigots ignorant of logic as well as history have an issue with the disabled and the poor existing and can't help but to blame them. Apparently for some it's much easier blaming then than themselves or their faulty corrupt politicians and banking systems when they should be bashing the high salaries being awarded to Gov Emps that never step foot in a work place instead they just hold an "office" or title all paid for by taxes and would equal more in a day than 30-40 food-stamp recipients receive over the course of years. Practically every economic crash, price hikes and so on have not only been the fault of politicians but world banking systems as well and have been basically intentional. This has been proven countless times, yet some just choose to skip of that fact and jump right to blaming people that are victims of the system just like the bigots that hate them for existing. I'm sure many people have had to stop buying items the are used to buying, and change their life styles a great deal. I have not gotten to that point yet, but I'm feeling the pinch. It sucks. Changes are needed. You must be a RASSISS!!! There is no inflation. Saying there is INFLATION could endanger the reelection chances of Barack Obama! You aren't a RASSISS, are you? |

I doubt it is the free agricultural money farmers get not to farm.So where does all this money really go?Who regulates prices in a free market? Why do gas stations always have the same price and not compete for costumers in a free market? Why are imports made by cheaper labor (slaves)getting more expensive? |

Or that you're driving a 1989 pickup truck, c'mon it's 23 yrs old it must be falling apart?? No?? I'm driving an '86 ford e250 work van--234000 miles--had it since new 1971 Chevy Custom 10, older restoration driven quite a bit, haul firewood and supplies and worked hard at times. Payments are 0.0 per month, yearly tags $35. Easy as hell to work on and no computer controls. 1990 Ford F-150, in the family since new, nice shape and maintenance kept up to date. Pulls the 28' travel trailer and everything works like new. Payments are 0.0 per month. Rollin in a new pickup to keep up with the Jones with payments of $600 per month is not my style. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25649980 United States 10/15/2012 08:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Food prices are getting ridiculous. I cook very inexpensive foods, but I still feel the crunch. It's going to make us have a very simple Christmas this year...not many treat foods. I'm cooking everything from scratch, lately...lots of soups and stews that are vegetarian, but I Still like to get an occasional treat like chocolate or some berries. Chocolate is ridiculous! Everything we buy is getting smaller! And from every direction, we are getting squeezed -- but our family income has gone nowhere. I really wanted my kids to have piano lessons -- just some piano lessons so they can read some music and have an increased appreciation of music. Well, it isn't going to happen, I guess...makes me sad. Just these simple things I hoped for in life...gone. |

I save my seed from year-to-year and compost for fertilizer. Price, time wise, remains the same. Really good eating. It does cost me a lot more for a steak or hamburger once in a while. |
