Re: Moontard here: THE friggin MOON is NOT RIGHT!
oh no the moon is doing the same thing it has for the last 300 million years. it is sad that you people have never paid any attention to how our system works. the Earth has a wobble, so the moon is going to appear to move up and down during the seasons, just like the sun does. so in the summer months a waning crescent will appear on the top left side on the moon, in the winter months it will appear to be bottom left side. nothing has changed.

Erm the Moon only been in our Orbit for approx 13500 years give or take a week.

Re: Moontard here: THE friggin MOON is NOT RIGHT!
I noticed this too, last night. Very strange. Is it possible that the moon was bombarded by something (an asteroid, etc) that was large enough to knock it out of its normal orbit? If that is the case, could the moon's new orbit slam it into the earth, destroying us all?

AHHHHH!!!!!

Hey I am 46 and you are correct.
If people would just get calendars from the past when the moon use to be a real quarter moon like this---> ( and so on. not a frown quarter moon.
The moon has changed and it seems like it started a few years ago.
I can not be specific when it changed to what it is today.
They blamed it on the winter soltrace or some kind of shit and said it would return to the way it was after the winter soltrace shit was over but it never happened.
The moon has never looked like it does today.
Just look at a calender and look at the times it says there will be a quarter moon and so on.
None of the pics on the calendars look like our moon today.

WELL, HERE THE FUCK WE ARE SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Assholes..

"The terms wet moon and dry moon originate from Hawaiian mythology, where it was thought that the moon appeared as a bowl which would fill up with rain. The period where this is most common, January 20 - February 18, corresponds with Kaelo the Water Bearer in Hawaiian astrology and makes the moon known as the "dripping wet moon". As the year passes into summer, the crescent shape shifts, pouring out the water and causing the summer rains. After the "bowl" empties, it dries out and rights itself, creating the "dry moon"."

Number three: The only thing I did was question your pic in which you never answered any of my questions. If you're upset about that you're being kind of weird. My question to the Moon-Tards:
Hi OP, TrinityMountain, Saint Leibowitz, Chas, donnamickey, ~Spaze*Man~, waxonwaxoff, LordBeagle72, Em18966, Possum, Kissplash, The Answer, grefey and all the ACs.

Its day now in Australia, Europe, and all over the USA.

Was it waning from right to left instead of top to bottom?

I noticed it too, the moon, as viewed from Northern California was waning from the top down not from the side. I don't recall ever seeing it like that before. My viewing angle was looking due East and slightly north .move was moving from northeast to southwesterly direction .

Perhaps it always does this in late October early nov? I dunno...

Field rotation is not dependent on the season. And yes, field rotation was described long before NASA was founded. Here's a reference from 1900:
[link to adsabs.harvard.edu]
Siderostats and heliostats do not use polar alignment and are therefore subject to field rotation. So are you when you're viewing the moon by eye. This problem is eliminated in a polar aligned telescope and indeed the moon is seen to be waning from the side, not from the top, in such a telescope.

Aww, what's the matter, no response? Didn't think so.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27056233

Um I was a bit busy here but if you want a response here it is:
If you trust what the government sells you than I feel sorry for you because all they sell is BS.
 Quoting: Kissplash

Right, they're lying about field rotation. If you seriously believe that, and if you seriously believe that in the early 70's they "faked" that photo so that 40 years later I could come along and show that the moon's orientation is normal, then you're fucking insane.
I believe in amateur photos...like they ones that get passed down generation to generation. You trust your i-telescope? How about your digital telescope? You trust Stellarium (I'm having real trouble with this one...I don't trust it but it's all that I have)? You trust NASA?
 Quoting: idiot

Yes I trust my telescope. I know how to polar align it jackass, and guess what I see when I do so... a vertical moon even when by eye it looks "horizontal" as it did this weekend! Guess what my amateur photo would have shown had I taken one of the moon this weekend? A vertical moon! Why? Because my telescope was polar aligned, as was nearly every serious amateur telescope back when the above photo was taken (telescopes used for astrophotography back then were all equatorial).
You know what I trust? My eyes. And my gut. And photos that never even dreamed of being photo-shopped. That's what I believe in.
 Quoting: idiot

Photoshop didn't exist back then. Furthermore, there'd be no reason to fucking forge an image like that back then.
And I'll tell you something else. Even with a field rotation you would still see the pictures the same today as you did then if nothing has changed.
 Quoting: idiot

I JUST SHOWED YOU ONE YOU FUCKING MORON!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27056233

And by the way idiot, if they faked that image of the rocket on the pad with the moon in the background in the 70's, why didn't anyone yell about it back then and scream "fake?" Because it was perfectly normal to see the moon like that, just as it is today! Tell me, how the fuck did the moon look vertical in my polar aligned telescope this weekend while by eye it looked "horizontal"? If it's not field rotation, then what is it? Hmm? Answer that. Oh, it's because my telescope has a computer in it? How does the computer magically rotate the image of the moon? Eh? It's polar aligned, it's a physical alignment, there's not a damn thing the computer can do to change that! Once polar aligned, the computer either puts the moon in the field of view, or it doesn't, there's nothing it can do to "rotate" the view of the moon to make it look normal! Learn some astronomy!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27056233

You're a dumbass. NOBODY accused anyone of faking the photo 40 years ago. But, it would certainly be possible to take an old photo like that TODAY and use computer software to take a vertical crescent moon and tilt it to be hiorizontal. That's what I contend happened here. Your shill tactics of setting up an absurd accusation that nobody made won't work here wher epeople can think critically. Go take your PTB paycheck and shill elsewhere asshole.

Actually an angled moon can happen any time of year. Certain times of the year are more common for certain phases because the moon's orbit is angled with respect to the ecliptic. The observer's location and observation time also matter. The wet moon reference refers to an extreme amount of apparent rotation for a single phase.
