Prior to the year 2000, the last time the Republicans held the Presidency AND the Congress at the same time was in 1954 when Eisenhower was President. Republicans would scream and cry and plead with the electorate: "Please, please elect us for President and Congress and we'll solve all the problems, because all the problems in this country are brought about by the evil democrats." So in the year 2000, George W. Bush was elected as was a Republican Congress. There was a Republican President AND Congress for 6 or Bush's 8 years in office. And what did they do? They spent more than all previous administrations in U.S. history combined, and increased the size of the federal government more than any administration since FDR's New Deal.

Why would anyone vote for a Republican president based on cutting spending and reducing the size of the federal government? They've proven they're not serious about doing either of those things.

If you have another reason to vote for them, fine. But those are 2 of my biggest issues, and the issues that matter the most as our economy is bottoming out.

I guess you missed Colin Powell's endorsement of President Obama. Or is Powell NOW a commie, pinko, marxist, racist traitor? Just yesterday, he was all your heroes, when he was executing Bush, Sr.'s oil war, and Bush, Jr.'s imperialism in the middle east and south Asia.

Blood equity in this nation & are not even allowed to vote. Makes me sick.

I just got back from voting. Where I live there is a two-to-one Democratic registration edge, and the ladies working there told me out of 900 registered, 130 have already voted. They said that's good turnout compared to past years.

I'm in a near suburb of Pittsburgh with a lot of working class Democrats.

In theory, I guess that would be good news for Obama here although there are a number of people here who will be voting for Romney as I just did.

Yeah, that normally would be an indicator.

But this is probably the first time in history that so many members of the Democratic party are voting against their man.

I know plenty of Democrats and all of them are voting Romney.

The reason there's such a high turnout in this election already is because everyone has a vested interest.

Something tells me, the better educated a states population is, the more they vote Democratic.

I know a good number of Democrats who are voting for Romney as well. Lots of union guys who ignore their management.

Something people may not know about PA is that independents cannot vote for any office of meaning in the primary, so most people here are registered usually either one party or the other, but most register Democratic if they don't have a strong preference because they're more likely to have contested primaries.

So, you don't see a lot of independents in PA, but the ones who actually are in terms of their voting habits are most likely registered Democratic.
