I watched the video and his correlation with the number is amazing, however...

the calender doesn't stop with xx12, as in 2012. what about, say, 2012 - 3000?

I think that if he applied these formula's taking those years into account, he may find some other relation.

maybe the 5th age, the Kali Uga, is 2013-3000?

This makes sense but it does not prove that anything cataclysmic will happen at the end of the cycle - just that the "new one" is beginning. (which makes sense - just like the end of our 12 month cycle - the new 12 month cycle begins beginning a new year)

This is a point lost on most people. The end of the cycle is actually referred to as the beginning of a new one. It is not about the end of anything, rather a new beginning.

As for the numbers, he gets 78 by adding 1+2+3...+12 for some reason that I don't understand. He then goes on to show repeating patterns and claims it has significant meaning. Math is full of repeating patterns. It is very easy to do something similar to this guy with any set of numbers and produce repeating patterns. Not sure what his point is.

ghey

nothing going to happen this year or next year.
 Quoting: Skin Suit

Quite likely, but since it was used for farming, what event- or lack of said environmental 'event' that causes it to reset back to the beginning of the calendar?

It may well be simply an limited calendar that the Mayans crafted before their culture, but not the people, disappeared.

the long count mayan calendar lasts about 5125 years, exactly one-fifth of 25,920 years (precession) where our solar system and/or a multiple solar system (nibiru? (basically means 'change') affects the condition of all bodies in the solar system, perhaps catastrophically, proven by countless soil sediments on Earth that tell of persistent serious extinction level events throughout history.

The mayans needed to understand the cycle so they could efficiently grow food.

Perhaps it will be many thousands of years before the Extinction level event that happened during the time of Noah.

that's impossible, they didn't know this year would be 2012
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1184401

There calendar has its own date, which we have figured out corresponds to our calendar. Each day the sun rises is a new day, you could "call' it anything, call it "next Monday" or call it "10 Ahau" or call it "November 12", it is still the same day. The following day would be called "next Tuesday" or "11 Ahau" or "November 13." It is still just the next day no matter what you label it.

The naming convention varies with the culture, but the days are sequentially ordered throughout the centuries and exist in reality. WE humans choose what to call or name the days.

The Mayans called certain days by one name and we called the same exact days by a different name.

On the day that WE call December 21, 2012, the Mayans call it 13.0.0.0.0., the end of the 13th Baktun. End.

OP, This is not the Mayan Calendar! This is the Aztec Sun Stone!

The centre of the stone actually represents Tlaltecuhtli, the Mexica sea or earth monster who features in Mexica creation myths. The whole calendar is about Human sacrifice.

Guatemala's Mayan people accused the government and tour groups on Wednesday of perpetuating the myth that their calendar foresees the imminent end of the world for monetary gain.

"We are speaking out against deceit, lies and twisting of the truth, and turning us into folklore-for-profit. They are not telling the truth about time cycles," charged Felipe Gomez, leader of the Maya alliance Oxlaljuj Ajpop.

did they subtract the leap year days from the Mayan calender on account of our Georgian calender and figured out the end of that Mayan cycle already happened?

Re: video: 12/21/12 claims, researcher claims to decode mayan calendar.
what an iq you have member and super grat point thumbs up

I thought it was interesting that if you take the number of people in the book of Revelation supposedly " marked ", 144,000 and divide it by the " number of the beast ", 666, you get 216.2162162162162, which is 216 repeated 5 times, which equals the number of god/holy spirit, etc, 1080.

But, If you take the number of chosen , 144000, and divide it by the number of god/Holy spirit, 1080, you get a number, 133.3333333333333, that multiplied by 5 gives you the number of the beast, 666.6666666666666

If you divide the number of the number of holy spirit, 1080, by the number of the beast, 666, you get a number 1.621621621621622, that if shortened to 1.6216216216 yields the ratio 222/360, which is what the golden ratio Phi is derived from.

video: researcher claims that mayan calendar is decoded, 11/5/12.

 Quoting: Digital mix guy

This "Researcher" in this video is simply wrong

The Mayan Calendar ends on December 21, 2012 PERIOD.

The Mayans could care less about any of our calendar dates, months, or years,...there is no such thing as December to the Mayans. The Mayans end their Calendar on an astronomical event...The Galactic Alignment that happens once every 26,000 years PERIOD!!!!!

Don't let anyone throw numbers, dates, or times, the end date was determined by the Mayans at the end of their 4th World...the Galactic Alignment

The Mayans built incredibly precise pyramids and structures without the use of metal tools or the wheel.

The Mayans created a calendar more accurate than any of their time or since.

They also calculated in the Earth's wobble hundreds of years before US astronomers found the wobble in the late 1800's.

They knew more about the Universe than any other civilization...USING THE NAKED EYE ONLY!

No "So Called" Mayans living today built a single pyramid or made any calendars...the Mayans living today are being bullied out of their land and history. Anyone claiming to speak for the Ancient Mayans...does NOT.

The Ancient Mayans wrote their own history in stone PERIOD!

On December 21, 2012 the 4th World will end according to the Mayans, and the 5th World will begin.

EVERY WORLD ENDED IN DESTRUCTION! According to the Ancient Mayans so will this one.

The Mayan God Bolon Yokte is to return on December 21, 2012 according to the Ancient Mayans, and with him he is to bring destruction.

Don't believe me, don't listen to any "So Called" current Mayans, don't listen to any youtube idiots with their twisted slant on anything...just look for yourself what the Ancient Mayans wrote in stone

[link to www.atlantisquest.com]

On December 21, 2012 either the Mayans will be proven to be right and our 4th World will be destroyed by flood...or we will have only 3 days of Christmas shopping left

NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING FOR SURE, but looking at what the Ancient Mayans accomplished compared to what the "YUPPY KNOW IT ALLS" of today have done with their short lives...I for one will give the Mayans the benefit of the doubt and wait and see what happens

Re: video: 12/21/12 claims, researcher claims to decode mayan calendar.
Debate all you want about what year or day you really think it is according to the Mayan calendar. Some have even argued that we may be off by up to 7 - 9 years from "translation" of the Mayan calendar, to the Gregorian. This has ABSOLUTELY NO RELEVANCE!!!

The Mayan calendar keeps a record of Venus transits, and solar eclipses. There was one solar eclipse (annular) this year on May 20, there was a Venus transit on June 6, and there will be a total solar eclipse on November 13, just as the Mayan calendar says. It is accurate. That is like the "failsafe." We can just look into the sky on certain dates to check to see if the Mayan calendar is accurate, which it is.

Look the Mayans had a freakish knowledge of that stars that moght have been handed down to them from non terrestrials...

What I think is that they were implying through their calender was that humanity will go through a change based on our position in the galaxy when the planetary alignment takes place which might affect our magnetosphere as will be the case with planets across the galactic plane

Also the date that the Mayans are referring to is 12/21/12 not 12/12/12 ... although they both add up to 3 + 3 + 3 = 9

no but the video maker is saying it's 12-12-12 NOT 12-21-12.

thats the point of the video.,
