Someone analyze the debris. I'm no expert. Well, you can see 2 firefighters in the distance, then a bit further in the distance are other firefighters fighting the fire.... IDK but would they send in firefighters that close to the explosion IF it was a possible gas leak in case of further explosions? Wouldn't they wait for the Gas company to confirm everything was safe before letting the firefighters go in?? |

A vacant house exploded on the city's west side early Thursday, alarming residents and scattering debris through the streets of a neighborhood near Rhodius Park. The usually quiet neighborhood in the 1000 block of South Warman Avenue was rattled just before 1 a.m. by the explosion. Indianapolis Fire Department crews received several 911 calls from neighbors reporting an explosion and seeing a blue flash. When crews arrived in the neighborhood, they found debris strewn over more than two blocks from the explosion. "There is a lot of debris. There is insulation a block and a half down the street. There are windows out down the street and a lot of siding," said IFD spokeswoman Bonnie Hensley. One couple living in the neighborhood said a brick from the home flew through their window. Citizens Energy spokeswoman Sarah Holsapple said a break in a residential gas line likely caused the explosion. |
