Those petitions are lists of FEMA camp candidates. The fools are willingly putting their names on a list generated by the White House. My God what is wrong with thees people. They're letting their anger over the election cloud their better judgement.

Sadly, I'm from Oregon, land of the insane. There is no hope in this state. Not a single Republican or conservative independent in a statewide seat. Yes, most of the landmass of the state has conservatives living on it. But we have Portlandia to deal with. (It's not just a tv show, they really are that insane.)

Let us Jettison the Portland metro area, and let them keep the name Oregon. Then the rest of the state that is a little less crazy, can become the state of Jefferson.

Then we can leave this God forsaken country and form our own.

A girl can dream can't she? bounceb

Let the border be the Pacific Crest. It is ultimately about water rights. West of the Crest would be the People's Republic of Cascadia, including Portland and Seattle. Likely Vancouver would jettison out of BC.

Lewis County, Washington (home of Centralia and Chehalis) would be a sore thumb poking into the side of Cascadia, and likely a seaport built on the Columbia somewhere west of Longview.

The people signing these petitions are just like the kid who throws the gameboard because he's losing.
Ya win some, ya lose some, deal with it. You want to tear apart the country and bring about another civil war because your guy didn't win? Seriously? Like the president makes all the decsions anyway... There is this thing called Congress ya know, not to mention the real possibility of the elite...

The majority has spoken, and you should respect their decision as you would expect them to respect yours if your guy won.

All of you who treasonous bastards who wish to secede from the union should grow up and focus on a real bipartisan effort to improve things; do the best you can with what you can control. If you can't put aside your hate to work together to better this once great nation, then simply leave the U.S. Good riddance.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5240732

The majority? Your president got 60 million votes (out of about 240 million possible). 25% is not a mandate. 15 million people dropped out entirely despite making voting easier and the most expensive campaign in history.

Quit whining to us and look to starting your own country in your neck of the woods.

These secession threads are idiotic.

There is a greater chance that Justin Bieber is the Nobody than there is of any state in the U.S making even preliminary moves to secede.

The Constitution was ratified in 1787...just 74 years later the United States was at war with the C.S.A...

More than 600,000 dead.

Anything can happen.

You do realize that Obama won in a landslide? In order to properly secede, you would actually need proof that Obama didn't have support. The election last Tuesday proved exactly the opposite.

Try running the numbers on Idaho there einstein.

Gosh, you mean the god-fearing white folk in Idaho didn't vote for the scary black man. Who'da thunk it?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20517650

Yeah, those same Idaho "racists" who elected a Hispanic congressman with 70% of the vote over a white guy who played in the NFL. Stick to subjects you know something about.

G Washington did not petition his oppressors , he shot them
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 957572

Actually they most definitely did try to petition the King for redress of grievances...and only after that failed time and time again, did he...shoot them.

These petitions ask for these states to be allowed to leave "Peacefully"...of course this will go nowhere, and I doubt the White House will even address this seriously, but if it makes people feel better to show their displeasure with the massive amounts of "Voter Fraud" and Many Many other grievances, so be it...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Of course, the point is there is massive discontent, unlike previous "elections".

The problem is, the country is controlled and owned by corrupt government and evil corporations. That won't change if secessions start. It'll just divvy up all the states among the corrupted. One big evil exchanged for loads of smaller evils that can now war with each other for profit and power.

I see a disturbing precedent here. Last State out is left holding the bag, the Federal deficit bag that is.

They do not need approval for Bammie. They need to petition their governors. And have a referendum.
