It was here, or maybe another site I read that Police are going to have access to cell phone registry. Thats probly what started this rumor again...

According to personal experience, it is quite factual that telemarketers call cell phone numbers. It also appears to be factual that the do not call registry is not goof proof.

As to "truth" it appears that neither you nor Snopes have located the hem of her garment.

Just go to the Do Not Call Website and you can register your entire family if you'd like.

They have had access for several years, and with one phone call and a tiny white lie, they can have the GPS info from your phone as long as it's on the network. If the battery is charged and in the phone, you can be located.

Ummm... I can attest to that.

We had your cell phone info LONG before you thought it was possible. (Even the MetroPCS / T-Mobile bullshit with the fake names and such.)

Not so worried about the charge - we use the prepaid thing from AT&T (screw contracts!) For 100/month (50 for me and hubby each) we get unlimited calls, unlimited texts AND unlimited data. And for my son we do the 25/month plan - unlimited texts and 250 minutes cause he texts more.....but for anyone who pays buy the minute/day this sucks, dont answer unless you know who it is, and def. call that number OP gave!

Even though I dont have to worry about being charged, this upsets me - I dont give my number to just anyone, why should they?

The do not call registry is a farce.

This is true, but in Canada, if you get your number on the national "Do Not Call List," the moment you call in for anything in regards to billing, tech problems etc, you are automatically placed back into the list for that particular company, and there really is only 2 giants BCE and Rogers. They have muliple 3 party calling centers calling with the same lists!

I worked for several call centers in the past and there are lists where we called the same people like sometimes 3 to 5 times a week! They would be asked to be put on the do not call list, we read our verbatim script and voila, the are supposed to be placed on the do not call list. But often times it didn't happen.

I had a lady once who had been called so many times that she actually blew a whistle into the phone, and it does hurt the ears! The best response I had was, "Is Mr. and Mrs. So and so home? She says "No sorry they are not home right now." I say "Is there another time we can reach them?"
She says "No I chopped up their bodies and put them in a freezer." True stories from a former call center agent.
