I was waiting for Judy to be mentioned.

There have been many many amazing female vocalists. Whitney Houston is an great example.

Judy garland sits at the top of this mountain and many of the female vocalists listed have stated so or probably would agree if asked.

If you only know Judy in OZ you haven't heard anything.. She was the first pop culture megastar..before Elvis who came along in the 50's... and her double album which garnered 5 Grammy awards has never been out of print in the 51 years since its release.
