Union Fail: Walmart Reports Record Sales

I'm not going to assume you are posting from your single wide or the free wifi at the library because i know nothing about you, and clearly you know nothing about me.

My point isnt about how evil unions should take over the business world, but Walmart is the perfect example of the future of the workplace without unions. These big employers will turn you out like a trick all day every day and as soon as you say a word, they fire you. If thats how you want things in your world, enjoy that.

Not me, no way.

Yes, standing behind that cash register and putting 16 oz cans on the shelves is slave labor..utterly fucking back breaking.

Where do you people come from?

Go pull a double shift with no overtime and then when you are thinking you are going to walk out the door, bossman tells you that you havent finished your work and will do it for free off the clock or you are fired.

Thats the shit Walmart does, and people suck San Waltons dick every day in thanks.

Black Friday is ridiculous and so are the people that shop it. Not pro union just pro Thanksgiving fuck Walmart anyway all they sell is shit, treat people like shit and put local business under. Their record breaking sales figures are blood money.

They would never hire him in the first place...

Unfettered, they would hire illegals from war torn shitholes who would lick their boots for 25 cents an hour and sleep in cardboard boxes near the closest underpass.

In fact they do, they have been caught doing it before, and will probably do it again.

The majority of their products come from slave labor overseas, and the same people who wonder why they can't get an English speaking person for a tech call and complain about all of the jobs going overseas will then turn on their brothers and sisters standing up for themselves and demanding a living wage.

At the same time these people flood wal-marts everyday to take advantage of the low low prices.

It all comes at a cost.

The cost is our way of life in the modern western world.

It's not worth it.

I live in a union town, and I have seen what can hapen when the unions get too greedy and corrupt, but there has to be a balance somewhere, because you are right, these companies would slit all of our throats if allowed to further the bottom line.

Reminds me of the "dead peasant" insurance scam, they can and will find a way to profit on your very life if possible.

Quality of life, national pride, mean NOTHING to these companies. They are literally giving aid and comfort to your enemies.

Growing bigger, expanding and progressing day by day is in human nature. From horse run carts to Ferrari and from pencils to laptop and blackberries, its all an expression of the human mind. Growth is in the human genome. It despises stifling rules and regulations from a third party such as the government.

Government is the problem, not a solution. Its only natural that walmart expanded and became a giant like it is today. No person on this planet has the right to stop it or any business or person from expanding. Because if they do, where would it stop? It would turn into a socialist hell where people might not be happy but everybody would share an equal amount of misery.

Today if the government, unions, tree loving hippies succeed in stopping walmart, tomorrow they'll come after you. Even your 1 store would be too much so you better have only half of it.

Any concern that employs a million people is going to have some irregularities but the Wage and Hour Bureau and OSHA provide a great deal of protection to the average worker.

I highly doubt many are having to work "double shifts" as they are all getting reduced to under 30 hrs thanks to Obamacare.

And someone who plans their career around discount retail sales and thinks this totally unskilled labor will support them and pay a "living wage" is pretty delusional in this day and age. It's at best a part time job or supplemental as discount retail sales is NEVER going to earn enough to support a family of four. Nor shoulsd it.

Unskilled labor is only worth so much and is not a very smart course in life.

ETA The same goes for flipping burgers at McDonalds--not likely to ever pay very much as food industry does not either. And again, it's not exactly rocket science.

I worked for Walmart a long time ago getting $3.75 per hr. minimum wage. They loved working you 39 hrs a week or less. No benefits, no nothin.

I stopped in at our rural WM yesterday afternoon. They were busy but not crowded. I got a convection oven for $39 and 3 Chuck Norris movies for $5. Oh and the whipped cream. No line at check out....

Wow, that was a long time ago! Minimum wage has been much more than that for some years now.

But I hope you did get some sort of training as unskilled labor will seldom pay much more than minimum wage.

I know several people that work at Walmart, they can't even score 40 hours.

FYI..I pulled double shifts, in FACTORIES, for years. Back breaking labor..manual labor, I got dirty, we didn't have air conditioning when it was 100 degrees outside. I've been injured repeatedly trying to do a mans job.

People at Walmart have absolutely no reason to bitch. It's UNSKILLED labor, they are worth ZERO to most employers because they are a dime a dozen. They can be easily replaced.

If you want more out of life learn a trade, get an education.

I'm sure this will come as a big shocker to some of you union shills but I have know people who were not even worth minimum wage and proved to be pretty well unteachable. I have even employed a few myself.

Hard for YOU to believe, I'll bet but such people do exist. And they are likely to be in unskilled labor jobs. And they have all the same rights and privileges of any other workers in this country and all that without union assistance.

I agree that unskilled labor isn't exactly rocket science, however there are ways to treat employees well and then there's Walmart. The perfect example is Costco. While i realize their clientele is different, it is mostly unskilled labor as well. Costco stock is through the roof, their customers are happy, and their employees have never threatened to form a union. Why do think that is?

Because they don't treat their employees like dog shit in order to squeeze out a few more pennies in profit. There is such a thing as taking it too far and Walmart has done just that.

Let me ask you this, who do you think should be paying for the medical benefits of Walmart employees? Should it be you and me? Or maybe they just shouldn't have any, they are just minimum wage workers anyways right?

You are missing my point. American taxpayers should not be subsidizing Walmart's profits at the expense of their employees. The Walton clan should trinkle a few extra pennies out of their sleeve and take care of their own so that WE don't have to.

I don't think unskilled workers have much of anything to unionize in the first place. Nor do I think people should try to make a "livable wage" from unskilled labor. It should at best be a supplemental position, starter job while getting some kind of training or education or semi-retired job as it is for so many.

So you think people in unions don't get any government benefits? That's pretty impossible with the sheer number of people in this country that receive some sort of government subsidy. Forty-seven percent is a high number.

I'm sure communists would like to see the back broken on Wal-Mart just like Twinkies and everything run by the govnerment. Hopefully you will not get your way about this.

Unions have done as much to force manufacturing and other industry abroad as anything else!

They have outlived their usefulness and been replaced by wage and hour laws.

And I agree with Debauchery--we are never going to agree on the value of totally unskilled labor which is certainly what Wal-mart is.

It was NEVER intended to support a family or provide benefits or much of anything else because it does not possess that kind of value.

Hard to accept I suppose but people STILL have to get some training or education or better themselves in some way or other to actually earn this "living wage" of which you speak. No, unions should not provide it for those who won't put forth that effort.

Every one of those protestora was a potential shopper. That potentially was shopping. It's not like they said they were boycotting or even getting active or violent. They were on a big group shopping trip.

i don't give a damn about wal-mart quite frankly, but i do have to ask what kept you there if the work and the conditions were so poor?

is it wal-marts fault if one has no ambition to better one's self? is it wal-mart's fault if one does not get an education and aspires to a better job? in my opinion they pay you what you are worth and they owe you nothing more than that. YOU owe it to yourself to do better.
