Agree, the unions want the dues and the power of the mass vote. They couldn't care less about the plight of Wal-Mart workers!
 Quoting: Bluebird

you sound like a rich ****

they weren't "unionized" they were people who didn't want to work on Thanksgiving.

Not a single person was a union member....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24699208

Yes, they advertised that union members would be there and where shown on TV saying they were there in support of the Wal-mart workers. Some retail workers union who organized the whole thing.

Yeah, bet I bet you'd bitch your pretty little head off if you went to take a piss in a Walmart restroom and the toilet was caked inside and out with shit and dried up piss.

Somebodys gotta do the tough work in life while the "smart" members of society sit behind a keyboard all day "working".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27382151

I live very close to a Wal-mart so I would just wait until I got home.

The only time I have been in the Wal-mart restroom was to fix a contact lens and it was quite neat and clean. And all that was managed without anyone having to line the pockets of Workers of the World or the World Socialist Party or any other left-wing organization collecting dues to donate to Democrat candidates.

I'm not the one wanting to wage class warfare with hate. I feel very badly for these Walmart workers being used by this union like this.

Ask yourself why now? Why is this suddenly so urgent there are union rep out there on the picket line and often more than the actual Walmart workers. What's that about?

One million workers to milk for dues for nothing and with them possibly not only all that money to donate to Democrats but a million votes to deliver as well.

It's just that we see through the scam and are not falling for it. Walmart will just pass the expense along to the already embattled consumer, the working class.

With real unemployment at least 11% and the economy totally stagnant, it's one odd time to be so desperate to unionise after being non-union all these years except for the obvious. And that' sure not to help the workers.

Re: Union Fail: Walmart Reports Record Sales
Any concern that employs a million people is going to have some irregularities but the Wage and Hour Bureau and OSHA provide a great deal of protection to the average worker.

I highly doubt many are having to work "double shifts" as they are all getting reduced to under 30 hrs thanks to Obamacare.

And someone who plans their career around discount retail sales and thinks this totally unskilled labor will support them and pay a "living wage" is pretty delusional in this day and age. It's at best a part time job or supplemental as discount retail sales is NEVER going to earn enough to support a family of four. Nor shoulsd it.

Unskilled labor is only worth so much and is not a very smart course in life.

ETA The same goes for flipping burgers at McDonalds--not likely to ever pay very much as food industry does not either. And again, it's not exactly rocket science.

These protests all came together very quickly and spontaneously in response to Walmart's request that its employees work on Thanksgiving day.

Walmart told its employees a few weeks before Thanksgiving that they would have to work on Thanksgiving because Walmart's market research is alleged to have found that people want to go shopping as soon as they finished their Thanksgiving dinners.

These protests spontaneously erupted in almost all 50 states.

This isn't a union fail.

No one expects Walmart to fall overnight.
 Quoting: Lillith 15389369

This was not the first time Walmart has been opened on Thanksgiving. My mom has had to work several Thanksgivings in years past. Spontaneous? Doubt it.

You are not the majority, lol.

OK, here's one article on union workers protesting with Wal-mart workers

Quote:

MILFORD — Friday might have kicked off the holiday shopping season, but the animated group that gathered in front of Walmart to share its voice wasn’t there to sing Christmas carols.

About 25 union workers from a local health care facility staged a brief protest of the retailer and its employees’ wages, benefits and ever-expanding Black Friday shopping schedule. The West River Healthcare Center employees, who are members of the New England Healthcare Workers Union, Local 1199, have been on strike since summer and said they wanted to support Walmart workers by picketing.

Other union members protested at store locations in Hartford, Danbury and Stamford, and additional supporters and some Walmart workers held similar events across the country. Many
protests and walk-outs were held last week at stores, but several were planned for Black Friday, typically viewed as on of the busiest shopping day of the year.

Note the part about similar events across the country.

Then there is this one in St Paul Minnisota:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — Hundreds gathered outside the Wal-Mart store on Friday along University Avenue in St. Paul.

There were some workers who had walked off the job, and others were members of labor unions lending their support.

And on and on it goes. But I don't know what difference that makes and why you are making such a big deal about it.

I NEVER said the Wal-mart workers were union but that these unions were protesting with the Wal-mart workers.

That's the whole point--they are trying to unionize Wal-mart at a time when the economy is at a very low point with 8% or more unemployment.

They planned to gather at the Paramount Walmart store, where they would be joined by members of the clergy, community organizations and other supporters to protest the company's attempts to silence them for speaking out for better jobs, according to Making Change at Walmart, which is organized by the United Food & Commercial Workers union. Most of the people UFCW claims at their events aren't even Walmart workers," Restivo said. "They are union representatives and other union members."

Walmart workers have been speaking out about "take-home pay so low that many workers' families have to rely on public assistance just to stay afloat," "understaffing that is keeping workers from receiving sufficient hours and hurts customer service" and safety issues, according to Making Change at Walmart.

Restivo said Walmart's "pay and benefits plans are as good as or better than our retail competitors, including those that are unionized."

"If they weren't, we wouldn't be able to hire people and staff our stores," Restivo said. "Last year alone, we received 5 million job applications."

Re: Union Fail: Walmart Reports Record Sales
Some people just don't get it. Their business plan is genius, but it pits man vs man and they are the winners.

Their prices are artificially low at face value, but the tradeoff is that you the taxpayer foot the bill and subsidize their profits by providing for their employees what they should be providing themselves.

You may pay 2.50 for that toothpaste at Walmart while it's 3.00 at Fred Meyer down the street, but how much do you pay in extra social programs to help pay for the healthcare or food stamps of the below poverty WalMart employee? Meanwhile the Walton family gets richer and the employees fall further behind.

We the taxpayer gets screwed by ol Sammy even while he's in the grave.

The average WalMart costs its community over $420,000 a year in subsidies for it's employees. Still want to keep suckin that WalMart dick?

Probably do, as that is what your corporate masters demand.

I hope they do unionize and WalMart has to raise their prices to what the real levels should be. Then they will have to actually compete on a level playing field, not one where the taxpayers are playing for their team with little to no benefit in return.

Walmart Corp makes BILLION$ while paying the workers peanuts. That is the function of a union.

The unions have no power today only due to open border immigrant - scab labor.
