Re: Over 7 million homeless pets a year, and we still BUY pets?!
Some animals are homeless for a reason. A lot have isues or again have become wild. i rescued a dog, and it destroyed everything in my house/yard for 6 months.. i then paid $1,200 for a purebred german shepherd and shes the most well behaved and intelligent animal ive ever known.. I could leave the door wide open all day and she will just look out..

Have a Shih Tzu pup 16 weeks , she is house trained and does as she is told , all she wants to do is be with me and my son....I wouldnt rescue a dog......have a rescue moggy though , he was 12 weeks and due to go to a cat rescue centre last of the litter no one wanted , so I had him.....gorgeous black and white laid back male cat who is at present snuggled up with the Shih Tzu pup !

How many churches in any town?

See any let in homeless people even in icy weather?

My mom didn't believe in pets.

We had a goldfish for about 2 hours. It died.

Actually, caring for the way our nation treats animals directly effects our "starving children." We spend 70% of our grain to feed animals for meat consumption. Makes sense.

Saw a nice family film ( hard to find anymore) last night and they were lost in Alaska and trying to survive. The question came up whether or not to eat the dog. Wonder if any of us will ever be in that situation with what is coming? We always adopt a pet but those who buy ones should really research where they come from.

Human beings are actually only a animal also. Yet we humans are the only ones destroying the host planet. Therefore we must surely be the most useless animal the planet has ever known.

And he is speaking about pets in your own Country. If there are Children starving in a 1st world country the mother needs to get of the smack or adopt her children out to someone who actually would care for them.

Not to mention that hes american and has for sure enough fat on his body to feed like 50 street dogs, i dont know for sure if they will like his fat as its full of toxins though, we should not give the animals garbage food like he eats :)

Either that, or maybe we can grind the unused pets into some sort of biofuel.

How are you better from those animals? heck even animals don't think of doing that to humans.

I've taken in strays all the time from dogs to cats, even a coyote. I've never once have one misbehave and destroy things. I only see animals do this when their caretakers mistreat them and attempt to force them to do things. Animals have emotions just like people and most, like people, don't like being forced to do things.

Thats the biggest load of feel good crap speech.. your saying you can take wild animals into your home, and as long as your all kissy face n loving w them they wont destroy anything?.. your the tourist who gets out if his car to take a picture w a grizzly and gets eatn.

Again and again, humans at fault...so they create MORE animals and more animals and more animals...breed. breed. and breed all for money. And, if us responsible people DON'T pick up the slack AGAIN like we do for welfarers WE'RE the bad guys...society= all but totally irresponsible...small percentage picks up the slack....and the children and animals suffer because they have no recourse but to be exploited and bludgeoned by so called adults. God is going to put a stop to this madness and all we can hope is that the mayan calendar is correct.

I have 4 dogs I rescued from shelters because of other people not taking responsibility for their own lives and what they have brought into it

quite common with kids and animals now, isnt it?

Re: Over 7 million homeless pets a year, and we still BUY pets?!
Sadly many dogs that are abandoned are traumatised and or have behavioural problems. Not the animals fault, but few people have the knowledge, skills, experience and home environment to handle them.

I would never introduce an adult rescue dog into my family when the children were young. We have rescued two dogs as young puppies and socialised them and they worked out fine.

Especially with kids in the family, I like to know something about the temperament of the parents and have only bought dogs from breeders that I trust.

i'd never buy one from the people round here, they get dogs/snakes/cats and breed from 6 months, just to sell pups for cash ,the family i know have 4 big dogs(on dss,in council home)and never seen them outside walking.or their exotic caat out in case she's stolen.it makes me sick.what did make me laugh they joined Jehova's group, and got given the money to get married, and the mum actually said "because we will be saved as the world is ending"even the kids breeding at 11 and 14.

Rescued two cats from the wild. They're awesome, but I don't call them "pets". We exist together, I am responsible for that which I take in to my home, but I don't "own" living creatures.

Instead of buying a pet go to a shelter or like me
pick up one that has been dumped.
They make excellent pets.

I agree, if you want a pet, go to the animal shelter. There are so many who have been found alone, that they will be put down after a about a week if no one comes for them.
