Are you taking any medications? There are some medicines that make you "forget" to breathe. I thought I was a little nuts, because I never thought about this being possible, but I noticed it only started when I started taking a particular medication. I told the doctor, and he changed the medicine. End of forgetting to breathe. I still thought it might have been just me, since I'd never heard of this. Then one day at lunch, a co-worker said she'd been taking a medicine that made her forget to breathe! My loud "Yes!" sort of startled her and I explained my experience, that I'd never heard of that from anyone else, and I had been worried because I didn't know what would happen if I went to sleep and forgot to breathe. She said, "You wake up!"

I know this isn't the same thing you're describing, my point is just that medications can do weird things to you.

Are you drinking any herbal teas, such as MaHuang, which has ephedra in it?

People who use the ephedra product may do so for a number of reasons. They use ephedra product to help with asthma, colds, flu, for athletic training or to lose weight. Most users of an ephedra product may experience little to no side effects when taking the recommended dosage. When taking too high a dosage of ephedra based products, one may experience side effects such as:

Yes, Kundalini - I experienced many of the same things. Just relax and know that everything will be OK. It is a natural process. It can be scary and throw you off balance but keep your head on straight and you will be fine. Try to do a little research on the subject and keep your focus on your higher power. From a caring soul who has been there...

I forget where I looked this one up, maybe Dream Dictionary? Anyway, somewhere I found a reference suggesting that flashes of light in the eyes as you are drifting off....they have to do with anxiety...maybe the light is from the impulses of thoughts when your brain is having trouble shutting down?

Big move - congrats. But yes, I would check in with a doc and see if they have any worthwhile suggestions for you. Sleep disturbance is no joke and it CAN impact your dreams and your ability to get to REM, and thus, your health. If you don't have a doc, see if the local hospital has a referral service and I would call back a few times too, just to be certain someone is really listening to your overall needs. Choosing a new doc is never easy. Good luck!

I've been having things happen to me in the last two weeks and I wanted to share them with my GLP family and get your input. First off I don't do anytype of drugs! When I go bed I close my eyes and right off there's flashing lights and this does not stop untill I'm asleep, I've been waking up on the hour every hour with this really warm feeling within my whole body (like when you go to the ER and they give you some good shit for pain), Now its not a feeling I like, Makes me feel something is wrong or not right, Another thing is everytime this happens as I'm waking I'am always trying to catch my breathe, like I almost died and then the really warm feeling happens and stays for a few mins. I went to the doctor but he had no idea, did bloodwork and all is good. If anyone has had this happen to them please share, I'm in good health and only 28yrs old. Its to the point I've wrote a goodbye letter to my family because I don't know if I will wake up :(

First thing I thought of...Lyme! You have moved into an area where Lyme abounds! Do NOT get the "simple" test...which can have false negatives at like the 50% rate!

I have seen this in a relative and I have seen "Mystery Diagnosis" many times where Lyme was the ultimate culprit. Very tricky to diagnose without the test...and one SOB you don't want to wait too long to get diagnosed! It will make your life miserable and yes, it can kill you...slowly and painfully!

I am not a doctor, but, this would be one of the first tests I would have done if I were you!

The sleep part could be something else but I was leaning more towards the awakening side because the past few weeks I could be just walking and have certain thoughts and all of the sudden my body just warms up like that womb feeling and lasts for a little , and once or twice I rapped a couple freestyles that were so unbelievably good right after my body got that warm numb feeling again... It's weird but I like the feeling

Have your doctor check your TSH - should be between 0.3 and 3.0 - for thyroid issues, and your vitamin D status. Make sure you are not anemic or Vitamin B deficient. Try a magnesium supplement - the relaxation mineral. Get a glucometer and check your bloodsugar - maybe you are hypoglycemic.

Like many in this thread already stated:

your kundalini is awakening ;)

"During the most intense phase of my awakening, I was dazzled with a spectacular light show every time I closed my eyes. Even with my eyes opened, brilliant flashes of white or colored light appeared in my peripheral vision. These "external" lights were particularly vivid when I was in a darkened room. I went through another phase in which I saw a beautiful, shimmering rainbow whenever I shut my eyes. In Energies of Transformation, Bonnie Greenwell notes Aurobindo's theory that "the appearance of fire [and] lights (either in masses or in symbolic forms)... are commonly seen by most people who follow spiritual practices, and he believed they indicated the movement or action of inner forces." Most of the people I know who are undergoing Kundalini awakenings have mentioned seeing dazzling lights, internal and external. On occasion I see brief, sparkling lights dancing in front of me. Sometimes a vibrant blue pinpoint of light streaks past me -- perhaps what Swami Muktananda referred to as "the blue pearl."

Buddhist teacher Jack Kornfield speaks of the visions of light experienced by advanced meditation students (in whom Kundalini has likely risen). Many, he says, "will see very powerful white lights as if looking into the headlight of an oncoming train or as if the whole sky were illumined by a brilliant sun." While different traditions and teachers ascribe various meanings to the appearance of different colored lights, Kornfield notes that most of them "agree that seeing colors is usually the effect of a deep and pure opening of consciousness."

From the most part, it seems like you ignored the sleep apnea issue on page 1.

My guess is,

1. You smoke
2. You drink
3. Maybe overweight
4. You have high blood pressure

If you do/are any of the above, in my experience the signs are of a pending stroke.

Follow all the sleep apnea advice glp'ers have given you. Find a bio dentist and ask for the $300. WatchPat 100 test (low-cost and more accurate than super expensive sleep clinic and hospital testing; you wear it overnight in your own home!

Sleep apnea can kill you, plus cause non-fatal strokes. You are fighting for your life and breath. Do it now before you wink out some night! And ask for the SomnoMed device from your biodentist.

Sleep apnea nearly killed a friend of mine; she had a minor stroke. WatchPat 100 showed she was a severe apnea victim. Her life and health have turned around completely now. She sleeps untroubled all night now, instead of fistfighting Death all night like she did all her life. She was on the edge, bro/sis. She has risen like the Phoenix wearing the SomnoMed device, which is similar to a lucite retainer...but it holds open your air passages. Google it all. Blessings to you!

I have the flashing sometimes but that usually only happens if I go to bed late and have been staring at a computer screen for a long time.

Otherwise the breathing could be sleep apnea, but usually only obese people get this problem

Or of course, astral projection could be the culprit.

In this year especially, our bodies are changing a lot! So we will experience a ton of shit.

The flashing light deal might be visual migraines. I had a true migraine only once when I was young, but in the last 5 years, I've had at least 5 incidents where I saw a flashing type light, reminds me of a ceiling fan running and catching the passing of the blades against the light. First time it scared the shit out of me, then I looked it up, and figured out what it probably was, third time I saw an Ophthalmologist who came to the same conclusion (after a full exam of my eyes and discussion of the experiences).

Nothing fatal if that's what it is. Also, that can cause anxiety not knowing what it is.

Not saying that's what it is, but look into to it to see if it matches what might be your issue.

Lyme disease is really rare for human beings to get. It usually occurs in dogs and cats, not us. The tick must be on you for at least 36 hours. And usually it is engorged before it falls off, and/ or it is too tiny to be detected.

Go get checked for sleep apnea - you have alot of the symptoms.

Please do it - you don't have to be overweight to have it. It's a genetic issue with the muscles in your throat.

When you brain and organs are struggling for oxygen - there are strange psysical sysmtoms and everyone is different.
