Anonymous Coward User ID: 28610025 Spain 11/30/2012 04:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well it is rather a coincidence for that man being right next to a shoe store, an Arizona tourist just happening to be at the right place. Watching the video report the officer got a 50% "employee discount" paying 49.95 for the boots. The boots being prominently displayed as well as the inside of the store. It is just all too perfect and thus it feels staged. By whom? The shoe-store. Will they admit to it? Probably never. Now for the odd-chance it is NOT staged I must submit that this officer deserves all the praise he has gotten - with a slight critical remark towards the "bum" that this individual could have gotten footwear for a few dollars from any second hand shop and for some reason did not. It is not as if he could not have saved a few dollars to get some foot protection. It is the first thing you do when living on the streets. Heck, even a few rags with string is better than barefooting no? My 2 cents. |

What do you think would happen if a shoe store owner approaches a bum and offers him ten bucks to sit outside his store window with no shoes on a cold night? Concerned samaritan buys shoes. Store happy. Bum happy. Samaritan happy. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28729734 People do these acts of kindness everyday and sometimes even get arrested for it. Now that a cop does it, he's some kind of hero? Since when are cops not human beings? Hats off to the man that provided footwear to a fellow human of earth, not the cop. Your perspective on this sad The cop didnt even know somebody was watching him Anytime a human being helps another human being in need espically when he or she does it when nobody is looking or nobody knows about it is what this life is truly about 1 greatest commandment...love The Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul 2 greatest commandment ....love you neighbor(fellow human being) as you love yourself Amen |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1193674 He went and bought a hundred dollar pair of boots for a man that didn't have any, sleeping next to a shoes store, eyeballed his foot size (or got the largest size they had?) and then had the whole story immortalized by a would be reporter on the street? How did the whole story get out? How did the woman know to wait to get the shot? Could it be coincidence that this happened right at the beginning of the Christmas season? I'm not saying it couldn't happen by chance,it's just interesting how much of this would have to be played with normally to get it all to line up. Well, regardless, I hope that the guy got his free pair of boots from it and that it was real in that way. I am impressed that you were still able to conjure up some grand conspiracy behind such a simple story as this. And I'm with you. People think cops are generally assholes because they see HUNDREDS of videos of people getting their asses handed to them by cops all over the rest of the internet. In order for them to get more money in sales taxes all the gov would have to do is make themselves look good? Sounds like a win win for them. Sad to say but i'm with these guys. Would be so nice if this was for real but no chance. Also, alot of homeless will sift through bins to look for stuff (fair enough if you're in that position) and people throw away shoes everyday... Was this man really unable to find even a beat up pair? |

PEOPLE help people. Cops are thugs. Cops are enforcers. And after a few years of busting people for victimless crimes and collecting money for the government under threat of death, and experiencing the hatred of your fellow man towards you for choosing a career as a thug, this young man will either quit or become like all the others. confuser |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23554071 Here is a story about a NYC cop waling his beat when he comes across a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk with no shoes and the temperature outside is at the freezing point. This is a snippet of the story. Click on the link to read the whole story. "NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A New York City police officer’s act of kindness has gone viral. Tourist Jennifer Foster, of Arizona, took a snapshot of Officer Larry DePrimo giving a barefoot man a new pair of all-weather boots and thermal socks in Times Square on Nov. 14." ....."DePrimo was stationed at his foot post at the corner of 44th Street and Broadway the frigid night when he noticed an elderly homeless man, shoeless, on the sidewalk.".....The officer, 25, went to the Sketchers shoe store nearby and purchased $100 all-weather boots and socks for the man. “When I brought out the shoes, it was just a smile from ear to ear, so it was absolutely amazing,” DePrimo told WCBS 880′s Marla Diamond.
