Moon and Jupiter haven't risen for my location. they were close together last night, though. What?? oO where do you live? in the most US locations, the moon must be well high in the dark sky as it was here in Italy 6 hours ago. - Last Edited by IWASTHERE on 11/29/2012 07:53 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2224486 United States 11/29/2012 07:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Excellent observation. Last night I was out on break at work in Ohio around 6pm. My buddy remarked to me about the star next to the moon possibly being a planet. 2 hrs later on my next break, I was reading about it on a couple forums, and a few people posted that it was Jupiter. I said "cool" and left it at that. Tonight I go to break at the same time and do not see the same thing. So...what the hell. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed... Last time Jupiter was clearly visible from where I'm at I could see it for 2 weeks every night moving a little each night. |

I see Jupiter but it is not right next to the moon nor should it be. If you have to insist that you've won an Internet argument, you've probably lost badly. - Danth's Law |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28736315 I think it's normal, right? Today, Thursday so NOT Wednesday) in Italy was not up the moon at all. It was not there 6 hours ago, that's why I ask for it in the other side of the worls such as US. Last Edited by IWASTHERE on 11/29/2012 07:19 PM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28736315 I think it's normal, right? Today in Italy was not up the moon at all. It was not there at all. Well, I confess I didn't pay much attention to the sky tonight. The Moon was there, and there was a big bright star ABOVE it, that I suppose is Jupiter, that was BELLOW the Moon yesterday. But maybe I need to check the sky again... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28736315 I think it's normal, right? Yes, it is normal. From night to night the Moon moves between 10 and 15 degrees relative to the stars. Jupiter moves as well but not nearly as fast. If you have to insist that you've won an Internet argument, you've probably lost badly. - Danth's Law |

In this post Thread: Do You See Jupiter In The Sky Near The Moon Right Now Or Not? 11/29/2012 Thursday h. 7 PM The post you quoted also applied to TODAY as it explains why Jupiter is no longer right next to the Moon. Anonymous Coward User ID: 17989851 United States 11/29/2012 07:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jupiter today, must be visible in the pretty same location of yestarday, so near and up the moon. Quoting: DUCM900 Except that the moon moves much faster against the background of stars than does Jupiter. In fact, at this time, Jupiter's apparent movement is retrograde (to the west) because it is nearly at opposition, while the moon always moves to the east (against the background of stars). |
