There are soft EMPS too. I saw a test on some show few years back they did with a rental car....and a military EMP. The car did run again afterward. I thought it would be perma-fried....but this mini-EMP didn't totally destroy the car electronics. ...just a temporary power kill scenario. It was on the Military channel.....that ultimate weapons show. I forgot the guys name who was the host. He was a Seal for 10 years. I think I may have seen that to. But I thought it wasn't EMP it was like a built in kill switch they thought they could put in all cars and if the police etc are in a chase they can just point a remote or w/e and the car shuts off. They've also been developing microwave guns that work to the same effect if you know the cars vulnerable frequency. But those still perma-fry the vehicles computer I think. |

G.B.S. GLP is like a diamond mine of information, in the sense that you have to shovel mountains of crap to find the diamonds, but it's still worth the pain. |

It takes more than a current surge to kill ALL electronics, as evidence by computers turning back on after voltage spikes all the time. The nature of electronics says there is highly unlikely to be any one event that can actually fry all electronics, but may damage some of them. |

Hmmm, I wonder if they would do a test run using a "mild" version so as not to attract attention. Did they have to do anything to get the car to run again? They had this "bomb looking thing" hanging from wires connected to a pole or poles over the car. They flipped a switch and the car was toast. I thought it was amusing that they did it to a rental car. ahhhhh found it!! Hey, I think I may have seen that on Youtube before, very neat! Funny about it being a rental car, but I guess they were pretty confident they could get the thing running again. I would have to wonder if the Russians would do something like this as a dry run where the power comes back up and nobody is the wiser? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 28744097 United States 11/30/2012 08:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | According to this news article from Gismeteo [link to www.gismeteo.ru] Around 20:15 local time yesterday a bright flash illuminated the whole city. Shortly afterwards most of the city's power was lost for about two hours. Anything from television sets to street lights. As noticed in the video some car lights and the radio stopped working as well. Some people even reported their room light bulbs changing color through the spectrum and or showing some weird unusual lights. Quoting: Snuffielover The power company explained it all as 'A cat that wandered into a power transformer booth and caused a short circuit.' Must have been Nyan-Cat or the power company people are lying. What are your thoughts? It's way too powerful of an EMP blast to be simple lightning. In Russia....vee haf new dance.....it call EMP dance. ...and the Russians testing EMP weapons are the LEAST of the USA's problems. Personally, I think all nations are aware of what is going on and are cooperating with the U.S. Well, the ones that are not we know what happened to them. I believe they are trying to get everybody on the same page so to speak and they don't care how they have to do it. All the nations government officials are aware of what is going on, but the general population, with the exception of a few individuals, are unaware. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2377823 United States 11/30/2012 08:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If this video DID come from the effected area, this only shows with even more proof it was NO EMP. If that was an strong enough EMP to blow out the city, every damn car on that road with a computer chip in it would have stopped dead in their tracks. As for the radio, the station itself could be located in that city and the transmission towers lost power. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2451621 A UAV equipped with an EMP or DEW weapon can fly into or over a storm and use the storm to hide it. Very precise strikes using these types of weapons are possible. Communications systems are first on the list to be targeted. Targeting power generating facilities, substations, and communications towers, for instance, knocks out service to a wide area. No need to fry all the electronics. |
