Thinking about quitting my job... to trade stocks
I've been trading stocks a long time. Never successfully, until recently. I finally came up with my own math based trading system built around not losing money first and foremost, profits second. I have yet to make a lot of money, but my losses totally ceased over 6 months ago. It's looking positive.

The problem is that I quit a job once to trade stocks and it didn't work out. Of course, that was a long time ago and I didn't have any kind of trading system.

I have some money saved to pay my bills until I get get enough health profits to begin taking money out of my brokerage account to pay bills.

But it's still scary. It's scary to quit a job these days. Just thinking about it can make you feel like a fool. But then again, we don't live forever. Maybe the hours I burn at work could be spent at home perfecting my trading system.

Hmm. What to do...

Yes, if a person only bets that the market will rise. I also bet against the market at times. It just depends.

FOREX is probably a better bet. Far, far less manipulation than the stock markets, and absolutely massive in terms of money flow.

I'm looking at subscribing to a system marketed by a very savvy and successful FOREX trader.

You can bet more than one direction at once. Straddles, Stangles, etc. A big move (in either direction) can produce enormous profits for people who bet both ways.

Thanks. Yes, it can be very scary. I've tried to take much of the risk out of the equation by forcing myself to be happy with smaller potential profits.

Careful. Many guys who sell systems are either secret failures, or could not handle the stress anymore and decided it was easier to sell a system than trade (true!). And some sell their wares in order to fund their losing gambling habits.

In the UK, we can play FOREX through "spread betting" at as little as £1 per pip. So, getting your feet wet won't cost you the farm.

Any gains are totally tax-free.

The guy I'm referring to is named Ian Williams, and has a public track record second to none in the FOREX markets. I don't believe he's a scammer.

"I bought a thang called Market Raider from a guy called Ian Williams which serves me up forex setups very regularly - and it is then up to me to assess the strength of the set up and choose what to do next. It saves me hours of trawling charts, but left to its own devices would have broken the bank a thousand times over. I AM NOT RECOMMENDING IT here. I think as a time saving tool some bots are quite useful - but nothing will do the best decision making for you but you! That's why bankers deserve their bonuses!"

Yes. The market just has to move. It doesn't necessarily have to move in any particular direction.

I don't think it's necessary anymore. Now you can trade currencies using ETFs. Of course you can only trade ETFs during market hours whereas Forex is open all night. I guess it just depends on what your goals are. My system is based around stocks so I probably would shy away from Forex, but I'll keep it in mind going forward.
