The Sinless Descent is a beautiful,thought provoking work. The imagery takes the viewer through the life after death beliefs of the Egyptians,making it easy to understand the complex ideas presented concerning the "Veil" of the Bible. I think after viewing the research and possible connection of the Veil to the separation of man from God,many will agree it is an area that demands attention. Nicely done!

Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Calvinist, Church of Latter Day all believe Christs descent into the underworld, and believe it is scriptural and teach it according to Wikipedia. So this is a very old belief, its just no taught in the modern church... [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Before the sacrifice of Christ all men went to Sheol (underworld) when they died, no man righteous or unrighteous could ascend out of it. There was a thick imposing veil spoken of by Moses in Exodus that separated mankind from the holy of holies. The high priests would reanimate the temple and veil here on earth, which was symbolic of the heavenly holy of holies. I surmise that during the FALL of man because of their sin they could not ascend out of Shoel, there was a seal placed over Shoel which would not allow the souls to ascend out of it.

The Egyptians were obsessed with navigating through the underworld and many of their writings including those in the chambers were dedicated to helping the pharaohs navigate through it with spells believing they could resurrect themselves and take their place in the heavens; they went through great lengths to preserve their bodies believing they could reanimate their bodies when they ascended through Sheol.

Since heaven was far removed from Shoel (underworld) the only way through it was through the flesh. In spirit Christ was the son of God who volunteered to come in the flesh ..Die in the flesh and descend into the underworld to rip the veil (star gate, portal, seal) and set the captives free.

I point out that during the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist the Holy Spirit descended upon him like a dove. Its my contention that this was the supernatural power given to him by the father to accomplish his mission in Sheol (underworld) to rip the veil (star gate, portal, seal)

That’s why his birth into the flesh, his death, his descent into Sheol for 3 days, his ripping of the veil and his resurrection are so important to Christians. It means he accomplished his mission. This is why Christ said he and the father are one. Christ defeated death, opened the the veil (star gate, portal, seal) and took his seat at the right hand of the father in the heavens

As written in the Book of Revelation: "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."[Rev. 1:17-18]

Matthew and Mark make it clear—the rending of the veil followed immediately upon the death of Christ. In deed, it is accurate to say it “occurred at the moment of that death.” It was through the death of Christ that a way into the heavenly sanctuary was opened. The only person who could die the only kind of death that would satisfy the justice of God and save lost mankind was Jesus Christ.

It was a voluntary sacrifice. He chose to die for our sins. He chose to die in our place. The curtain is the way into the Most Holy Place where God dwells in heaven (Hebrews 10:19-20). Heaven is opened up for all who take refuge in Jesus Christ (4:16).

1 Peter 4:6

For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Those souls in paradise eagerly received the gospel that Christ preached. This was the one who completed their salvation and redeemed them, and at Christ’s resurrection they were the firstfruits.

1 Corinthians 15:23

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Matthew 27:52

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Christ used his other key to release these saints from the prison house. For although Abraham’s bosom was a place of peace and rest, it was not heaven. Heaven was refused to them because their sins could not be taken away until the Redeemer came. With Christ’s death the "guilded cage" could be opened and those souls could "fly" to heaven.

The premise is All man went to Sheol because of Sin, the only way to open the seal, gate, portal to the underworld was to be sinless, Christ came in the flesh, died in the flesh to go to the underworld to open the seals to free mankind from going to the underworld, and now the kingdom of heaven is open to all men. God freed the Israelites from Egypt because they were trying to escape Sheol on their own

This is why over and over and over again the bible calls Christ the redeemer, the sinless one, the sacrificed lamb
