It's unfortunately sad, but true. There are always certain groups of people who see anything out of the ordinary as being something that foreshadows doom. I'm thinking that the poster who mentioned suicides is right on, and it's already started to happen with a father planning to kill his family, if I'm remembering that right. I wish I could find the source for that, but I know there will be a group of people much like the Heaven's Gate cult who killed themselves with the appearance of the Hale-Bopp comet in 1996-1997. |

Sadly, if you haven't already started, it's bordering on too late. prepare for what? Do you even know what you are preparing for? I am preparing for "the worst" and hoping for "the best". I have prepared enough that pretty much anything (except for a ELE of some sort) can happen and I'll be just fine for a few months. Do you think it's ill-advised to have 3 days (or more) of food and water in your house? Do you think it's ill-advised to have some form of protection for you and your family? Do you *know* the future or is it uncertain? Bad things can AND do happen. To not prepare for the unknown is idiotic. I don't know what's going to happen later this month. Neither do you. Neither does ANYONE. Most likely it will be nothing at all. If that's the case, I'll *still* be prepared JIC something bad (flood, hurracaine, etc) does happen later in life. Will you? |

This isn't an end of the world hype thread. I agree with you, people WILL begin to flip out though. Get ready. It's less than three weeks away. People would alrady be flipping out. Just like Y2K, nothing will happen. Apparently you didn't read the articles. People ARE flipping out. |

There will be those trying to hang-on to the old ways of the Pisces Age just as when Moses came down from the mountain top to find his people worshiping the Golden Calf. He scolded them for this because that was the symbol of the Age that had just passed. There will be those folks still living in the past Age and fighting any change tooth and nail, no doubt. Most of us will not miss war & strife however. If you think our systems of Laws and Governments, Commerce etc. are equatable and fair then you'll fight to keep it in place I assume. I did some work for a guy that totally fell into the Y2K hysteria. He was (is) very well to do and could afford significant preps. This time around he's already prepared...nothing to do by wait.
